Makkah Al-Mukarramah... Al-Qunfudhah celebrates its "yellow gold" at the 15th Mango Festival

The branch general manager explained Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture In the Makkah region, Engineer Waleed bin Ibrahim Al-Daghis said that the festival comes as an extension of a continuous development path for mango cultivation, and to enhance the position of Al-Qunfudhah as one of the most prominent production areas in the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the director of the ministry’s office in the governorate, Engineer Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Qarni, indicated that the number of mango farms exceeded four thousand farms, with an annual production exceeding 52,000 tons, with a harvest season that extends for more than three months.
He explained that there are a large number of mango farmers who own more than half a million mango trees, indicating the rapid agricultural expansion that the governorate has witnessed, noting that Al-Qunfudhah is one of the highest producing governorates in the Kingdom, compared to the Jazan region, which leads in production at the regional level.

Al-Qarni affirmed that the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture continues to support mango and tropical fruit cultivation through an integrated system that includes technical and technological support, organizing workshops and extension programs, and attracting specialized experts from universities and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This system also provides agricultural guidance to farmers at the beginning of each season, particularly regarding crop disease control, which has contributed to improving the quality and increasing the quantity of production.
Mango cultivation in Al-Qunfudhah dates back more than fifty years, witnessing continuous development with government support. This has made it an economically viable seasonal crop and contributed to its transformation into a prominent agricultural and investment activity in the governorate.
Since 1431 AH (2010/2011 CE), Al-Qunfudhah has hosted 14 mango festivals, which have supported farmers, marketed their products, and introduced visitors to this fruit, which has become one of the most prominent features of the governorate's agricultural identity.
This year’s festival includes exhibitions for farmers and agricultural products, corners for productive families, food trucks, theatrical performances, a photography corner, and prize draws including mobile phones, in an experience that combines marketing and entertainment and promotes local agricultural presence.
