Admissions begin at the Higher Institute for Plastic Industries 1447

Higher Institute for Plastic Industries

The Higher Institute for Plastic Industries announced today the opening of admissions and registration for holders of the General Secondary Education Certificate (Science Section) in all specializations, for enrollment in the first training semester of the new Hijri year 1447/1448 AH. This announcement comes as part of the institute's ongoing efforts to attract young national talent and prepare them for the growing industrial job market.

Training program details and application process

The institute's administration clarified that applications are currently being accepted through the institute's online portal , with submissions being accepted from today until Thursday, April 9, 2026. This new cohort is the thirty-ninth (39th) since the institute's establishment, reflecting the program's continued success in graduating qualified professionals.

Regarding the nature of the study, the institute explained that the training period extends for two full years, during which trainees study the latest plastic manufacturing technologies and the operation of advanced production lines. The program is distinguished by being taught entirely in English, which enhances graduates' opportunities to network and work with international companies. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are awarded a diploma in plastic manufacturing technology, an accredited qualification that enables them to work in major industrial companies.

Historical background and strategic partnership model

The Higher Institute for Plastics Industries (HIPF) is a leading model of non-profit strategic partnerships in the Kingdom. It was established through an initiative of the Ministry of Energy and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, in collaboration with SABIC's Eastern Company and its Japanese partner, SPDC. Located in the Second Industrial City of Riyadh, the institute was created with the aim of transferring advanced industrial technology from Japan to Saudi Arabia and localizing knowledge in the manufacturing sector.

The institute bases its training curricula on the highest international standards, with training supervised by a team of experts and engineers, ensuring that trainees acquire practical and theoretical skills that keep pace with the rapid development in polymer and plastic technology.

Economic importance and future of manufacturing industries

This announcement is particularly significant given the Kingdom's economic objectives under Vision 2030, which heavily emphasizes maximizing the added value of hydrocarbon resources. The plastics and manufacturing sector is considered a cornerstone of economic diversification, as the Kingdom seeks to transform itself from a mere exporter of crude oil and gas into a global hub for advanced industries.

The institute's graduates directly contribute to bridging the gap in the local labor market, where national factories suffer from a shortage of Saudi technicians specializing in the operation and maintenance of complex plastic machinery. By training young Saudis, the institute contributes to increasing Saudization rates in the industrial sector, strengthening national economic security, and supporting Saudi non-oil exports, which rely heavily on petrochemical and plastic products.
