Al-Ahsa: 19,000 teachers trained to enhance learning outcomes and Vision 2030

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing the quality of education and raising the efficiency of educational staff, the General Directorate of Education in Al-Ahsa Governorate launched the first phase of the “Teacher Development Program 2026,” which targets the training and development of approximately 19,000 male and female teachers in the region. This ambitious program is a key pillar in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in the education sector.

Context of the initiative and its strategic objectives

This initiative falls within the framework of the comprehensive national transformation underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the development of human capital, particularly in the education sector, is considered the cornerstone of building a sustainable knowledge-based economy. The Ministry of Education places paramount importance on the continuous professional development of teachers, believing that a skilled teacher is the driving force behind a successful educational process capable of preparing a generation equipped with 21st-century skills.

During the launch of the program, the Director General of Education in the province, Mr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Issa, confirmed that these efforts aim to empower teachers with the latest educational practices and innovative teaching methods, in order to raise the level of learning outcomes for male and female students and enhance their ability to compete globally.

Program details and implementation mechanism

The National Institute for Professional Development in Education, the Ministry's executive arm in this field, is responsible for implementing the six-week program. The program is distinguished by its blended learning model, which combines interactive in-person training with distance learning via digital platforms, thus providing greater flexibility for participants. The training content consists of three integrated modules that focus on developing competencies in general educational practices, cultivating active learning skills, and fostering a culture of collaboration and shared experiences among teachers.

Expected impact on the education system

This program is expected to have a positive and tangible impact on several levels. Locally in Al-Ahsa, it will directly improve the quality of teaching in classrooms and create a more interactive and engaging learning environment for students. Nationally, such programs contribute to standardizing professional performance criteria for teachers across the Kingdom and support efforts to improve the Kingdom's ranking in international education indicators. They also reinforce the concept of the school as a learning organization, where development and improvement are ongoing processes, not isolated events.

Al-Issa stressed the importance of employing modern technologies such as artificial intelligence in preparing and delivering lessons, calling on teachers to invest all the opportunities provided by the ministry to develop their skills, stressing his confidence in their ability to lead positive change and raise students’ levels to reach global platforms of excellence.
