Drowning victim rescued in Yanbu: Border Guard intervenes and issues important warnings

Search and rescue teams from the Border Guard in Yanbu Governorate, Madinah Region, rescued a citizen who was drowning while swimming at a marine site. This incident underscores once again the importance of adhering to marine safety guidelines while enjoying the sea.

The specialized teams immediately went to the site upon receiving the report, where the citizen was extracted from the sea and given the necessary first aid on site to ensure his condition stabilized, before he was transferred to the hospital to complete the examinations and receive the necessary medical care. He is now in a stable health condition.

This successful operation reflects the high level of preparedness of the Saudi Border Guard teams and their ongoing efforts to monitor beaches and marine parks around the clock. The General Directorate of Border Guards works diligently to provide the latest equipment and highly trained personnel to handle various emergencies, with the aim of protecting the lives of citizens, residents, and tourists visiting the Kingdom's coastal areas.

In connection with the incident, the General Directorate of Border Guards reiterated its warnings to all beachgoers against swimming in undesignated areas or those lacking safety measures and warning signs. It emphasized the following points to ensure everyone's safety:

  • Swimming is only permitted in areas secured by rescue teams.
  • Avoid swimming alone or during times of high waves and rough weather.
  • Supervise children constantly and do not leave them alone near the beach.
  • Strict adherence to the warning signs located on the beaches.

The Directorate emphasized the importance of promptly reporting any emergencies or drowning incidents to ensure a swift response, urging everyone to contact the unified emergency numbers. The number (911) in the Makkah, Madinah, and Eastern regions, and (994) in the rest of the Kingdom, to request immediate assistance from the Border Guard teams, who are always ready to serve the community.
