Crown Prince receives message from Chinese President to strengthen bilateral relations

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – received a written message from His Excellency President Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, concerning ways to strengthen the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received the message during his meeting today, Sunday, at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh, with His Excellency Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of Saudi-Chinese relations and areas of joint cooperation, in addition to discussing regional and international developments and the efforts being made regarding them.

The reception was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the People’s Republic of China, Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, and the Director General of the General Administration for Asian Countries, Nasser Al-Janoum.

The depth of Saudi-Chinese relations

This message comes within the framework of the great momentum witnessed in the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China, especially after the historic summit held in Riyadh during the Chinese President’s visit to the Kingdom in December 2022. That visit witnessed the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, which launched a new era of cooperation between Beijing and Riyadh.

The message reflects the two leaderships’ keenness to maintain continuous coordination and consultation on various issues of common interest, in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples and enhances regional and international stability.

Integration of economic visions

Bilateral relations are gaining particular importance given the alignment between Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and China’s Belt and Road Initiative. China is Saudi Arabia’s largest trading partner, while the Kingdom is China’s primary energy supplier in the Middle East. Cooperation extends beyond the oil sector to include infrastructure, technology, renewable energy, and defense industries.

A pivotal role on the international stage

On the political front, both countries play a pivotal role in promoting multipolarity in the international system. China's role has recently emerged as a reliable partner in the region, as demonstrated by its mediation in restoring diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Iran. This underscores the mutual political trust and China's growing role in maintaining security and peace in the Middle East, in partnership with the Kingdom.
