Amending disclosures in the Citizen Account: Steps to correct income and compensation

The Citizen Account Program continues its ongoing interaction with beneficiaries' inquiries through its official platforms, clarifying the precise mechanisms for handling registered data to ensure the continued disbursement of support to eligible recipients. In its latest clarification, the program revealed the necessary steps to correct income disclosure data if it was entered incorrectly, whether for the primary beneficiary or dependents, to ensure data consistency with relevant authorities and avoid suspension of support.

Program context and its economic and social importance

The Citizen Account Program, launched in December 2017, is one of the most important social and economic pillars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The program was established to protect Saudi families from the direct and indirect effects of various economic reforms, such as energy price adjustments and the introduction of value-added tax (VAT). The accuracy of the data entered is crucial because the program relies on a precise calculation formula that considers family income, the number of family members, and their ages to determine the monthly benefit amount. Therefore, any error in disclosing income could potentially affect the support amount or eligibility.

How to correct an incorrect disclosure

The program explained that the beneficiary can correct errors in entering income data and amend it electronically through the electronic portal by following specific and easy steps:

  • For the main beneficiary: Access the beneficiary's file, then select "General Data", and go to the income modification option. After making the necessary modification, click on "Save Data".
  • For the dependent: Access the beneficiary's file, then select "Dependents' Data", modify the income of the dependent in question, and then save the changes.

Rules for retroactive compensation

In a related context, the program, through the "X" platform, addressed the cases in which beneficiaries are compensated with retroactive financial amounts, dividing them into two main types:

1. Financial objections

If the beneficiary submits a financial objection to the value of the support, and this objection is approved, the eligible beneficiary will be compensated retroactively for the relevant period directly.

2. Eligibility objections

The program confirmed that accepting an appeal regarding eligibility means the beneficiary will be reinstated in the next payment cycle. Regarding compensation for past months, this is not automatic but is subject to individual review of each case, and retroactive payment is only disbursed if approved according to the program's established regulations.

Steps to change your bank account

As part of the technical facilities provided by the program, which reflect the digital development in government services in the Kingdom, the mechanism for changing the bank account (IBAN) via the application was explained in simple steps:

  • Log in to the Citizen Account application and select "Beneficiary File".
  • Click on the "Bank Account" icon.
  • Enter the new IBAN number and make sure it is correct, then press "Save".

The program always emphasizes the need for accuracy in the data entered, as transparency and correct disclosure are the basic standard to ensure that direct cash support reaches the most deserving groups in society.
