The Crown Prince receives a delegation honoring the King for his support of Quran memorization
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received in Riyadh a delegation representing charitable Quran memorization societies in the Kingdom. This reception was held to honor the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, in appreciation and recognition of his generous and continuous support for these societies and their noble mission of serving the Holy Quran.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the delegation, emphasizing that the care, teaching, and memorization of the Holy Quran are among the fundamental principles upon which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded—a deeply rooted approach inherited by the leadership from generation to generation. His Royal Highness commended the blessed efforts exerted by Quran memorization societies throughout the Kingdom and their pivotal role in raising generations according to the guidance of the Holy Quran and its tolerant values, thus contributing to building a cohesive society and virtuous citizens who are proud of their religion and their homeland.
Historical background and ongoing support
This honor reflects a long history of care for the Holy Quran by the leaders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the era of its founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud – may God have mercy on him. The state has always given exceptional attention to establishing and supporting Quran memorization circles and schools, believing them to be a fortress for future generations and a source of goodness and blessings. This support has evolved over the years to include organizing local and international competitions for Quran memorization, recitation, and interpretation, such as the King Abdulaziz International Competition for Quran Memorization, which has become a global beacon where memorizers of the Book of God from all over the world compete.
Importance and expected impact
This reception carries significant implications both locally and internationally. Locally, it sends a strong message affirming the Kingdom's continued commitment to its moderate religious approach, reinforces the standing of these associations within the social fabric, and encourages their leaders and students to exert even greater efforts. Regionally and internationally, this event highlights the leading role of Saudi Arabia as a leader of the Islamic world and a patron of its religious and cultural affairs. It also underscores its efforts in disseminating the values of moderate Islam and countering extremist ideologies through a focus on sound Quranic education, thereby strengthening the Kingdom's soft power and its positive influence within the Islamic world and globally.
