Egypt stands in solidarity with Arab countries and condemns Iranian strikes

The Arab Republic of Egypt, in a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the Iranian strikes targeting sites within the territories of brotherly Arab states, affirming its full solidarity with these countries in taking whatever measures they deem appropriate to preserve their security, stability, and territorial sovereignty. This firm Egyptian stance stems from the constants of Egyptian foreign policy, which considers Arab national security a red line that cannot be crossed and an integral part of Egyptian national security.

In light of the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, Cairo warned of the dangers of regional escalation, which could drag the region into a vicious cycle of violence and instability. Diplomatic reports indicated that these strikes constitute a blatant violation of the principles of international law and the UN Charter, which clearly stipulates respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, as well as the principles of good neighborliness that should govern relations between the countries of the region.

Historical background and regional context

These tensions come at a time of heightened political and security turmoil in the region, with growing fears of an escalation in existing conflicts. Historically, Arab-Iranian relations have been characterized by complexity and fluctuations, but the direct targeting of Arab territories constitutes a dangerous development that demands a serious Arab and international response. Egypt consistently emphasizes, in international forums and the Arab League, the necessity of resolving disputes through diplomatic channels and constructive dialogue, rejecting the language of weapons and military threats, which do not serve the interests of the region's peoples.

The importance and impact of the Egyptian position

Egyptian solidarity carries significant strategic implications at both the regional and international levels. Egypt, as the elder sister and with its considerable political and military weight, sends a clear message that Arab states are not alone in facing security challenges. This stance strengthens Arab cohesion and supports efforts to unify ranks against foreign interference. Furthermore, Egypt's warning against the escalation of the conflict places the international community before its responsibilities to exert pressure for de-escalation and prevent the region from sliding into a full-blown regional war, the repercussions of which could affect the global economy, energy security, and international shipping lanes.

Egypt concluded its position by calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to prioritize reason and wisdom, in order to spare the peoples of the region the woes of new conflicts that they can ill afford, especially in light of the economic and developmental challenges facing the countries of the Middle East.
