Faisal bin Farhan discusses regional developments with Saidov and Turk

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's active diplomatic efforts, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a series of important meetings with prominent international figures, including the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk. These meetings come at a time when the region and the world are facing geopolitical and humanitarian challenges that require ongoing coordination and intensive consultation.
Strengthening the partnership with Uzbekistan and Central Asia
During his meeting with his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyar Saidov, they reviewed the growing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to support and strengthen them in all fields. These talks are of particular importance given the Kingdom's strategic direction towards strengthening its relations with Central Asian countries, as demonstrated in recent summits and reciprocal visits that focused on economic and investment cooperation.
The two sides discussed ways to intensify joint coordination on international issues of mutual interest, in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and enhances prospects for peace and stability in the region. Uzbekistan is an important partner for the Kingdom on numerous issues, particularly within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where the two countries share identical views on the need to combat extremism and promote the values of tolerance and moderation.
Cooperation with the United Nations and the humanitarian file
In a related context, His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Volker Türk. The meeting addressed existing cooperation between the Kingdom and the United Nations in the field of human rights, and efforts to protect civilians in conflict zones.
The two sides discussed at length current regional developments and their humanitarian repercussions, with His Highness emphasizing the crucial role of international organizations in ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid and the implementation of international humanitarian law. This meeting reaffirms the Kingdom's commitment to supporting UN efforts aimed at alleviating human suffering in regional hotspots and its tireless pursuit of sustainable political solutions to crises.
