The first research conference for students of Makkah universities kicks off under the patronage of Khalid Al-Faisal

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, the "First Research Conference for University Students in Makkah Region" was launched. Organized by Jeddah University under the theme "Today's Research... Tomorrow's Future," this prominent scientific event serves as a leading platform bringing together young minds and promising researchers from various academic institutions in the region.
Strengthening the scientific research and innovation system
This conference holds significant strategic importance as it aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically the Human Capital Development Program, which aims to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among young people. The conference represents a practical step towards building a knowledge-based society, bridging the gap between academic education and practical application, and encouraging students to engage in addressing societal and environmental challenges through rigorous scientific research methodologies.
Wide participation and massive scientific activity
The conference halls witnessed a significant turnout with the participation of over 1,900 students, researchers, and faculty members representing 12 public and private universities in the Makkah region. The conference provided a stimulating and competitive environment, allowing participants to exchange experiences and present their intellectual output in an academic atmosphere that fosters creativity and excellence.
Comprehensive themes that keep pace with the demands of the times
The conference's scientific program was characterized by its comprehensiveness and diversity, as the discussion sessions and research papers covered five main and vital themes that address national development needs, namely:
- Environmental Sustainability Focus: To discuss climate challenges and clean energy solutions.
- Logistics hub: To support the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center.
- The focus of basic and engineering sciences: to enhance the scientific infrastructure.
- Health and Medical Sciences Axis: To improve the quality of life and health services.
- The focus of social, human, and administrative sciences: to understand societal transformations and develop management.
Training and entrepreneurship programs
The conference was not limited to research presentations; it also included a rich training program comprising 40 specialized training courses, 14 practical workshops, and 6 in-depth panel discussions. In the context of linking scientific research to the job market, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Fawzan, Chief Advisor at the Environment Fund, delivered an inspiring lecture entitled "A Startup's Journey to Overcome the Valleys of Entrepreneurship," in which he reviewed the challenges and opportunities facing innovators in transforming their research ideas into successful commercial projects.
For his part, His Excellency the President of Jeddah University, Dr. Obaid Al-Mudhaffar, inaugurated the launch of the activities, stressing in his speech the university’s commitment to empowering student researchers and supporting initiatives that contribute to creating a bright future for research and innovation in the region, in a way that serves the ambitious national aspirations.
