The Crown Prince receives a message from the President of Kazakhstan to strengthen bilateral relations
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect him - received a written message from His Excellency President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, concerning ways to strengthen the strong bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and discussing opportunities to develop them in various fields in a way that serves common interests.
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received the message during his meeting today at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev. During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation and discussed regional and international developments and the efforts being made regarding them. The meeting was also attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Saud Al-Sati, and the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Faisal Al-Qahtani.
The depth of Saudi-Kazakh relations
This message comes within the context of the active diplomatic engagement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Kazakhstan, a relationship that spans more than three decades of fruitful cooperation. These relations hold particular strategic importance given the stature of both countries; the Kingdom represents a significant political and economic force in the Islamic world and the Middle East, while Kazakhstan is the largest and most influential country in Central Asia.
Economic partnership and a future vision
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aligns with Kazakhstan’s development aspirations across several vital sectors, most notably energy. Both countries are major energy producers and maintain close coordination within the OPEC+ framework to ensure the stability of global oil markets. Furthermore, recent years have witnessed significant growth in Saudi investments in Kazakhstan, particularly in renewable energy projects. Major Saudi companies like ACWA Power are leading large-scale wind energy projects there, reflecting both countries’ commitment to the transition to clean energy.
Enhancing food and logistical security
Food security also stands out as a key pillar of future cooperation, given Kazakhstan's vast agricultural potential and the Kingdom's efforts to diversify its food import sources. Furthermore, both sides are continuously exploring opportunities to develop logistics and transportation links between Central Asia and the Arabian Gulf region. This would enhance trade and facilitate the flow of goods between the two regions, a point underscored at the recent Gulf Cooperation Council-Central Asian Summit, which established a new phase of institutional partnership.
