Book your Hajj 1447 vaccinations via the Sehaty app | Saudi Ministry of Health
A proactive step towards a safe and healthy Hajj
As part of its early preparations for the 1447 AH Hajj season, the Saudi Ministry of Health announced the availability of a service to book appointments for mandatory Hajj vaccinations for citizens and residents wishing to perform the pilgrimage, through the “Sehhaty” digital application. This step comes as part of an integrated system aimed at facilitating procedures for pilgrims and ensuring their safety, and is in line with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program stemming from Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on digital transformation and raising the quality of health services.
Historical context and the importance of fortifications during Hajj
The Hajj pilgrimage is the world's largest annual human gathering, with millions of Muslims from around the globe converging on Mecca. This massive gathering, despite its profound spirituality, presents a significant health challenge due to the ease with which infectious diseases can spread in crowded places. Throughout history, Saudi Arabia has prioritized the health of pilgrims, developing rigorous preventative strategies to combat epidemics. In previous decades, diseases such as meningitis and cholera posed a real threat. Thanks to mandatory vaccinations and the development of health infrastructure in the holy sites, the Kingdom has successfully controlled these risks and protected millions of pilgrims annually, earning international praise from global health organizations.
The impact of digital transformation on the pilgrim experience
The launch of the vaccination booking service via the “Sehhaty” app represents a significant leap forward in managing Hajj health procedures. Instead of traditional methods, pilgrims can now complete all steps electronically with ease and speed. The Ministry explained that the process begins with logging into the app, then booking a new appointment, selecting “Adult Vaccination Clinic,” choosing the appropriate date and health center, and finally confirming the booking. This process not only saves time and effort but also ensures the digital documentation of vaccinations, facilitating verification when needed. Nationally, this initiative reflects the Kingdom's progress in e-government and digital health services. Internationally, it sets a benchmark for how technology can be used to manage major events safely and efficiently, contributing to preventing the spread of diseases across borders and enhancing global health security.
A call for commitment for everyone's safety
The Ministry of Health emphasized the importance of booking appointments early and not waiting until the Hajj season is approaching to ensure timely receipt of approved vaccinations. It stressed that adhering to health requirements and receiving necessary immunizations, such as the meningococcal and seasonal influenza vaccines, is not merely an administrative procedure, but a religious duty and a social responsibility that contributes to protecting the pilgrim, other pilgrims, and those serving them. The Ministry urged everyone to utilize the digital services provided by the "Sehhaty" application to ensure a safe, convenient, and healthy Hajj journey.
