Preparations for the 1447 Hajj season: Training 1500 guides to serve pilgrims

Early preparations: Training and qualifying 1500 guides to serve the pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1447 AH

As part of early and intensive preparations to ensure the success of the 1447 AH Hajj season, the Center for Guidance on Buses Transporting Pilgrims from Abroad launched a comprehensive strategic initiative in cooperation with the Institute of Research, Studies, and Consulting Services at Umm Al-Qura University, and under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This pioneering training program aims to qualify and train 1,500 guides and administrators by providing more than 7,500 hours of intensive training, focusing on equipping them with the necessary skills and competencies to provide the highest quality services to the pilgrims.

Training program details and approved materials

The training program offered by the Bus Guidance Center focuses on equipping guides and administrators with practical and theoretical knowledge through training modules officially accredited by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. These modules include: the "Welcome Module," which focuses on reception and hospitality skills; the "Crowd Management Module," specializing in crowd management and group movement; the "My Health Module," which covers safety and first aid; and the "Comprehensive Skills Module." The program also includes advanced technical training on using the "Guide Me" application, which facilitates accurate guidance and field monitoring of buses.

The historical context of the development of Hajj services in the Kingdom

Historically, since its founding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given paramount importance and exceptional care to serving the pilgrims. Crowd management and the organization of Hajj seasons have evolved dramatically over the past decades. Whereas services once relied on traditional methods, the Kingdom has now institutionalized and developed these services both technologically and administratively to keep pace with the millions of pilgrims. This early training for the 1447 AH Hajj season is part of a long history of continuous improvement, where utilizing specialized academic institutions, such as Umm Al-Qura University, has become a cornerstone for ensuring the provision of services based on precise and well-considered scientific principles that are appropriate to the sanctity of the time and place.

Importance and expected impact locally and internationally

This training program is of paramount importance and has a far-reaching impact. Locally, it contributes to developing national human resources and creating a qualified Saudi workforce capable of managing crises and professionally handling large crowds. This aligns directly with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, specifically the "Guests of God Service Program," which aims to enrich and enhance the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage experience, facilitate their accommodation, and provide world-class services.

At both the regional and international levels, the success of these training programs has a direct and positive impact on the safety, security, and comfort of millions of Muslims arriving from around the world. Providing guides skilled in interpersonal communication, crowd management, and health and safety ensures a reduction in risks and facilitates the smooth and peaceful movement of pilgrims between the holy sites. This high level of pre-planning enhances the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Islamic and global standing and demonstrates to the world its exceptional and sustainable capacity to host and manage the largest annual human gathering on Earth with the highest standards of quality and safety.
