Hajj security arrests 4 violators for entering Mecca without an official permit
As part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims performing Hajj, the Hajj security forces announced the arrest of four individuals for violating Hajj regulations and instructions. They were apprehended while attempting to enter Mecca without the required official permits to perform the rituals. The violators included two Yemeni residents, one Egyptian resident, and one Saudi citizen. They were detained and legal procedures were initiated against them.
General context for organizing Hajj
These measures are part of a comprehensive plan adopted annually by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to manage one of the world's largest human gatherings. The Hajj permit system is a cornerstone of this plan, aiming to regulate the number of pilgrims in accordance with the capacity of the holy sites and available infrastructure. Historically, Hajj seasons have faced significant logistical and security challenges due to the massive and unorganized crowds, prompting authorities to develop sophisticated electronic systems for issuing permits and tracking pilgrims, thus ensuring the provision of the best possible health, security, and logistical services for the guests of God.
The importance and impact of the procedures
The strict enforcement of these regulations is of paramount importance on several levels. Locally, irregular Hajj prevents the phenomenon of overcrowding and the resulting health and security risks, while also ensuring that essential services such as water, food, and medical care reach registered pilgrims efficiently. Regionally and internationally, the Kingdom's successful organization of the Hajj season reinforces its position as a leader of the Islamic world and custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and reassures countries of origin about the safety of their citizens. Preventing unregistered pilgrims from entering directly contributes to maintaining everyone's safety and ensures a safe and accessible Hajj experience.
A call to abide by the regulations
Public Security reiterated its call to all citizens and residents to fully comply with Hajj regulations and instructions, emphasizing that the safety and security of pilgrims is a red line that cannot be crossed. It also urged everyone to cooperate and immediately report any attempts to violate regulations by calling the designated numbers: 911 in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom. Public Security stressed that this cooperation represents a shared national and religious responsibility to serve the guests of God.
