Islamic University's Founding Day Events: A Rich Heritage and Global Celebration

In an atmosphere steeped in history and proud of the deep-rooted heritage of the Saudi state, the Islamic University of Madinah launched a wide array of cultural and heritage events to celebrate "Founding Day." These celebrations embody the depth of national belonging and evoke the glories of three centuries of pride and glory, since the establishment of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727 CE.
A journey through history within the university
The events, which began today, will continue until February 26th. The university will be open daily from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM to welcome visitors and students. These activities aim to connect the present with the rich past and introduce new generations and international students to the sacrifices and heroic deeds of the imams and kings who established security and stability in the Arabian Peninsula.
The Saudi tent: A window into authentic heritage
The "Saudi Tent" takes center stage in the celebrations, having transformed into a vibrant, living museum, housing a variety of informative and interactive exhibits. Among the most prominent are the "Our Food from the Beginning," showcasing traditional Saudi cuisine, the "Our Clothing from the Beginning," highlighting the diversity of traditional attire across the Kingdom's regions, and the handicrafts corner, demonstrating the ingenuity of our ancestors in utilizing natural resources.
The university also dedicated a corner to the "narrator" to tell inspiring historical stories, and a corner to "Arabic calligraphy" which reflects the aesthetics of the Arabic language as an integral part of the national identity.
Global interaction and sporting events
Given the global nature of the Islamic University, which includes students from various countries around the world, the celebrations featured the "Languages of the World Celebrate Founding Day" event, reflecting the Kingdom's global message and its positive impact. Accompanying programs included student competitions, poetry recitations under the title "Poems of Our Beginning," and programs promoting national values such as "Our Values in the Founding" and "Giving Back to the Nation.".
The university did not neglect the sports and entertainment aspect, as it organized the “We Started Day Marathon” and the “Founding Cup,” in addition to dazzling visual displays and lighting shows that decorated the main gate of the university with the logo and identity of the founding day, to draw an artistic picture that blends modernity and heritage.
Strengthening national identity
These events are of particular importance as they take place in an educational institution that brings together multiple cultures, which contributes to conveying the bright image of the history and civilization of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the whole world through the university’s ambassadors from international students, thereby reinforcing the values of tolerance, coexistence and pride in belonging to this great entity.
