The Islamic University organizes a global Iftar to coincide with its founding day

In a uniquely spiritual and patriotic atmosphere, the Islamic University of Madinah organized its fifth annual "Iftar Around the World" event, which this year took on an exceptional character as it coincided with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's National Day celebrations. The event was held on Sunday, the fifth of Ramadan 1447 AH (February 22, 2026), combining the spirituality of the holy month with a deep connection to the historical roots of the Saudi state.
The ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation, including the university president, Dr. Saleh Al-Aqla, along with several ambassadors and representatives of brotherly and friendly nations to the Kingdom, as well as deans and faculty members, and a large gathering of university staff and students. This diplomatic and academic presence reflected the prestigious standing of the Islamic University as a global beacon of knowledge.
The fusion of history with the universal message
The timing of this event with the Kingdom's founding day carries profound significance that transcends mere celebration. It connects the deep historical roots of the Saudi state, established three centuries ago by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727 CE, with its noble global mission of serving Islam and Muslims. Since its inception, the Kingdom has made serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, and disseminating Islamic and modern knowledge, a cornerstone of its policy. This is clearly exemplified by the role of the Islamic University in welcoming students from all corners of the earth.
Cultural diversity under one umbrella
During the event, the university grounds transformed into a global cultural carnival, as students representing over 180 different nationalities and speaking more than 50 languages gathered around a single breakfast table. This magnificent scene embodied the highest ideals of Islamic brotherhood and human coexistence, where ethnic and linguistic differences faded away, and the values of tolerance and love, which the Kingdom consistently promotes in international forums, shone through.
Bridges of cultural communication
The "Iftar Around the World" event aimed to create a space for vibrant cultural exchange, where international students competed to present traditional Ramadan dishes from their respective countries. This allowed attendees to explore the rich cultural diversity of Muslim societies. Beyond food, it provided an opportunity for dialogue and the sharing of customs and traditions, enriching the students' social experience, strengthening their sense of belonging within the university environment, and reinforcing the Kingdom's role as a hub for cultures and a champion of peace and moderation.
