Steps to issue a Saudi passport for those under 15 years old via Absher

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts towards comprehensive digital transformation and achieving the goals of Vision 2030, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Passports, continues to develop its electronic services to facilitate the lives of citizens and residents. The "Absher" platform recently clarified the approved mechanism and simplified steps for issuing Saudi passports to family members under 15 years of age, without the need to visit passport offices, reflecting the significant development in the digital infrastructure of government services.

The Absher platform confirmed through its official channels and FAQ guide that the service is available to the guardian (one of the parents) through their activated account on the platform. The process is entirely electronic and can be completed by carefully following these steps:

  • Log in to the Absher electronic platform using your username and password.
  • Select the "Family Members" tab from the main menu.
  • Click on the "Services" option.
  • Select the service "Issuance of Saudi Passports for Family Members".
  • Select the family member for whom the passport is to be issued from the list that appears.
  • Complete the required information and upload the personal photo according to the specified conditions.
  • Agree to the terms and conditions and complete the payment and delivery process via Saudi Post (Subul).

The importance of digital transformation in government services

This measure is part of a package of facilitations offered by the "Absher" platform, which has revolutionized the concept of government services. Whereas passport issuance used to require booking appointments and waiting in long queues, citizens can now complete these transactions from home in just a few minutes. This transformation not only saves time and effort but also contributes to reducing traffic congestion and easing pressure on government offices, thus enhancing the efficiency of government operations and improving the quality of life.

Additional services: Family registry for mothers

The services offered by the Absher platform are not limited to passports; they also extend to civil status services, which are of particular interest to Saudi women. The platform allows female citizens to obtain family records for their children electronically, empowering women and streamlining their official procedures. This process involves seven steps, beginning with accessing civil status services, selecting "Family Record for Mothers," filling out the application, and specifying the national address for document delivery. This demonstrates the platform's comprehensiveness and its ability to meet the needs of all segments of society.

In conclusion, these advanced electronic services are tangible proof of the success of the e-government strategy in the Kingdom, which aims to reach an integrated digital society, where technology is harnessed to serve people and facilitate their daily lives with ease and convenience.
