Jeddah: 52 violating sites closed and 70 tons of spoiled materials seized
Municipality recorded The Jeddah Governorate an intensive field presence in addressing illegal commercial activities within residential neighborhoods, through monitoring campaigns that extended from the last quarter of 2025 until the beginning of 2026.
The campaigns resulted in the closure of 52 violating sites, and the seizure of other sites practicing illegal activities, in addition to monitoring and destroying large quantities of illegal materials during the period, as part of efforts aimed at reducing illegal practices within the residential area.

explained The municipality that field inspections conducted by the General Directorate for Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena, in coordination with relevant authorities, revealed the operation of businesses within residential properties used for production and storage purposes outside of regulations. These included the preparation and storage of food products, tailoring and trademark counterfeiting, as well as the illegal production and storage of tobacco products. As a result, 52 food preparation and storage sites, 5 trademark counterfeiting and tailoring sites, and 15 tobacco production sites were shut down. These actions were taken as part of direct field operations to address these activities.
Regarding enforcement, the municipality reported dealing with 83 cases of illegal workers within these sites and taking the necessary legal measures against them. This is part of ongoing efforts to control and curb the spread of illegal operations within residential neighborhoods.
Field reports also indicated the discovery of locations within apartments, villas, and courtyards being used as food preparation and storage facilities or warehouses for illicit products, in addition to sites used for trademark counterfeiting.
The municipality indicated that approximately 40 tons of spoiled food, 20 tons of tobacco and shisha of unknown origin, 10 pieces of non-compliant manufacturing equipment, and over 700,000 counterfeit labels, printed materials, and trademark stickers were disposed of as part of regulatory measures aimed at preventing the circulation of illicit goods in the markets.
The report also highlighted the utilization of consumable goods, noting that approximately 9 tons of food were donated to charitable organizations, along with 18 large trucks of new clothing and sewing equipment to support beneficiary families.
This comes as part of ongoing monitoring efforts focused on intensifying field inspections within residential neighborhoods to address clandestine activities and curb illicit practices, thereby contributing to improving the urban landscape and enhancing the quality of life in the governorate.
