Jeddah Education celebrates its founding day with the epic student performance "Sama Al Majd"

In an atmosphere brimming with pride and a deep sense of belonging, the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah celebrated the Kingdom's National Day with a grand event entitled "The Sky of Glory," held at the Scout Center. The ceremony was attended by a remarkable number of educational leaders, parents, and students, who flocked to participate in this national celebration that recalled the glorious history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from its founding three centuries ago to the present era of prosperity.

Historical depth and consolidation of identity

This celebration underscores the profound significance of Founding Day in the Saudi national consciousness, a day commemorating the establishment of the Kingdom in 1727 by Imam Muhammad bin Saud. Through this event, the Jeddah Education Department aimed to connect younger generations with this great legacy and familiarize them with the sacrifices made to build a strong and unified nation. The event's importance extends beyond mere celebration; it also serves to reinforce national values and deepen students' sense of belonging, aligning with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which focuses on cultivating a national identity that cherishes its heritage and looks forward to its future.

The epic of "Sama Al-Majd"... an artistic narrative

The ceremony included a dazzling theatrical performance entitled “The Sky of Glory,” in which students portrayed a national epic recounting the story of struggle and nation-building. The performance transported the audience through time, beginning with the era of Mani’ ibn Rabi’ah and the early foundations, continuing through the establishment of the first Saudi state, and culminating in the complete unification and modern renaissance under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince. The show was distinguished by its integration of performing arts with visual effects, creating a profound emotional experience for the audience and reflecting the close bond between the leadership and the people.

From traditional Quranic schools to the digital age

In his address at the ceremony, Dr. Othman Musmali, Assistant for Educational Affairs in Jeddah, affirmed that education has always been and remains the cornerstone of the Saudi state's progress. He pointed to the radical transformations the sector has undergone, as the Kingdom transitioned from traditional Quranic schools and basic education to the era of advanced digital environments and artificial intelligence. He explained that this rapid development reflects the wise leadership's commitment to investing in Saudi citizens, recognizing them as the primary driver of development. He emphasized that celebrating the founding of the Kingdom is a celebration of a journey of awareness and knowledge that has never ceased.

An interactive journey through the memory of heritage

The students' creativity wasn't confined to the stage; the venue was transformed into a vibrant cultural panorama. Visitors strolled through the art exhibition, which featured paintings by students and teachers, as well as a traditional tent and souks showcasing clothing from various regions of the Kingdom, local cuisine, and handicrafts. Traditional games also contributed to the festive atmosphere, with students participating in reviving old social practices. This helped bridge the gap between the past and present, emphasizing that modernity doesn't mean abandoning one's identity.
