Jeddah Municipality: 10,000 health certificates issued and thousands of samples tested
Jeddah Municipality's efforts to promote food safety during March
In its ongoing efforts to ensure the highest public health standards, the Jeddah Municipality announced significant achievements during March, including the issuance and renewal of 10,125 health certificates for employees in establishments related to public health. This coincided with thorough laboratory testing of 7,910 food samples conducted by the municipality's laboratories department. These intensive measures are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at protecting consumers and ensuring the safety of food provided to residents and visitors of Jeddah, reflecting the municipality's commitment to implementing the highest quality standards.
The “Ijada” program and improving the quality of municipal services
These intensive monitoring efforts fall under the umbrella of the “Ijadah” program, a leading national initiative aimed at improving and developing the municipal oversight system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The program seeks to raise compliance levels with health and municipal regulations in commercial establishments, which directly impacts the quality of life. The Secretariat explained that its monitoring and field tours covered 11 sub-municipalities in Jeddah Governorate, reflecting the comprehensiveness and wide deployment of the monitoring teams to ensure coverage of all neighborhoods and vital areas and to verify everyone's adherence to the approved standards.
The strategic importance and impact of health control in Jeddah
Health inspections in Jeddah are of exceptional importance due to the city's geographical and economic significance. Locally, these measures contribute to reducing cases of food poisoning and protecting the public health of millions of residents. Regionally and internationally, Jeddah serves as the main gateway to the Two Holy Mosques, receiving millions of pilgrims, Umrah performers, and tourists annually. Therefore, ensuring food safety enhances visitor confidence in the services provided and supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in revitalizing the tourism and hospitality sectors according to the highest and most reliable international standards.
Digital transformation and streamlining procedures through the “Baladi” platform
In line with facilitating services for beneficiaries and supporting the Kingdom's comprehensive digital transformation, the Jeddah Municipality affirmed its commitment to continuing its oversight efforts through field visits to monitor compliance with health regulations in food establishments and enhance adherence to standards. The Municipality highlighted the significant technological advancements in service delivery, enabling establishment owners and employees to easily access municipal services via the "Baladi" digital platform. This platform allows for the electronic issuance and printing of health certificates without requiring visits to the Municipality headquarters or its branches. This is achieved through a direct electronic link between medical examination results and the Ministry of Health's platform, saving time and effort and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of employee health data.
These figures and statistics issued by the Jeddah Municipality do not represent merely a monthly achievement, but rather reflect a sustainable institutional approach that places human health at the forefront of its priorities. By combining rigorous field monitoring, precise laboratory analysis, and reliance on modern technologies, Jeddah sets a model to be emulated in public health management and food safety.
