King Salman Center distributes food baskets in Aleppo and Hadhramaut
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , continued its tireless efforts to extend a helping hand to those affected in the Arab region, as the center implemented new food aid distribution operations targeting displaced and most needy families in both Syria and Yemen, as part of a comprehensive strategy to achieve food security for vulnerable groups.
Urgent food aid for Aleppo
In its latest field operation, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 250 food baskets to displaced families in Aleppo Governorate, Syria. This direct assistance benefited 250 families suffering from harsh living conditions. The distribution is part of a broader Saudi aid project aimed at the Syrian people, seeking to alleviate the humanitarian crisis that has affected thousands of families who have lost their livelihoods and homes.
Continued humanitarian interventions in Yemen
In parallel with its efforts in Syria, the center continued implementing its relief plans in the Republic of Yemen, specifically in Hadramawt Governorate. The center oversaw the distribution of more than 27,000 food baskets targeting the most vulnerable families in the districts of Wadi and Hadramawt Desert. This activity falls under the "Emergency Food Interventions Project," a structured humanitarian plan aiming to reach 190,400 beneficiaries , ensuring the provision of basic needs through precise and approved distribution mechanisms that guarantee aid reaches those who need it most.
The humanitarian context and the importance of timing
This aid is of paramount importance given the current circumstances in the region. In Syria, the repercussions of the conflict, now in its tenth year, continue to severely impact infrastructure and the economy, leaving millions of Syrians in dire need of external assistance for survival, particularly in displacement camps like Aleppo. Meanwhile, in Yemen, the humanitarian crisis is ranked among the worst globally by the United Nations, with a large segment of the population suffering from food insecurity, making the King Salman Center's projects crucial in averting the threat of famine.
The Kingdom's leading role in relief work
Since its establishment in 2015 under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the center has become a global beacon of humanitarian work, providing aid without ethnic or religious discrimination. These recent initiatives in Aleppo and Hadramawt reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to its leading role in the Islamic and Arab world, and its dedication to regional stability through supporting brotherly nations in times of crisis. These efforts extend beyond simply providing food; they represent a message of fraternal solidarity aimed at strengthening the resilience of affected communities and offering them hope amidst mounting challenges.
