The King Salman Relief Center distributes food baskets in Jabalia, northern Gaza
As part of ongoing humanitarian efforts, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center the Jabalia refugee camp on Monday . This initiative comes as an urgent response to the growing needs of residents facing extremely harsh living conditions, with thousands residing in makeshift tents following the extensive destruction of homes and infrastructure in the camp.
The suffering of Jabalia camp and the humanitarian context
Jabalia camp is one of the largest and most densely populated refugee camps in the Gaza Strip. During the recent events, it suffered widespread destruction, with entire residential neighborhoods reduced to rubble. This aid is of paramount strategic importance given the immense difficulties in delivering supplies to the northern areas of the Strip compared to the south, leaving residents in these areas vulnerable to famine and acute malnutrition. The center's initiative serves as a lifeline for families who have lost their livelihoods and homes.
Access challenges and distribution mechanisms
The Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, the implementing partner of the King Salman Center in the Gaza Strip, oversaw the field distribution process according to a precise and organized mechanism to ensure that the aid reached those who needed it most. Despite the northern areas being classified as high-risk zones and the difficult terrain and debris hindering movement, the field teams successfully delivered food baskets to the most vulnerable families. The beneficiaries expressed their deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that this support came at a critical time to alleviate their daily suffering.
Saudi air and sea bridge
This aid is not limited to field distribution; it is part of a massive relief system. Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, has established an air and sea bridge to Gaza. The statistics for this support have reached the following:
- 77 relief planes.
- 8 ships loaded with aid.
- More than 7,699 tons of food, medical and shelter supplies.
- 912 trucks entered the sector.
- 20 advanced ambulances delivered to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
International partnerships and a leading regional role
To bolster its efforts, the Kingdom did not limit itself to direct relief but expanded its international cooperation by signing agreements with UN and international organizations to implement projects within Gaza worth over $90.35 million . The Kingdom also actively participated in airdrops of aid in partnership with the Jordanian Armed Forces to break the siege imposed on some areas and overcome the obstacles posed by the closure of land crossings.
This swift and comprehensive move embodies the historically firm position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, government and people, in supporting the Palestinian cause and standing by the brotherly Palestinian people in various crises, reflecting the noble humanitarian message adopted by the Kingdom in international and regional forums.
