King Salman Center launches relief projects in 5 countries for 2026

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leading role in global humanitarian work, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to expand its relief and medical services to include five countries in Asia and the Arab region, within its operational plan for 2026. These initiatives reaffirm the Kingdom’s commitment to extending a helping hand to those in need and those affected by crises around the world, and alleviating their suffering through high-quality and sustainable programs.

Enhancing food security in Uzbekistan

In a move aimed at supporting the most vulnerable groups in Central Asia, the center launched the fifth phase of its "Food Basket" project in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The launch took place in the capital, Tashkent, at the headquarters of the Charitable Endowment Fund, where the project aims to distribute 6,060 complete food baskets 36,000 individuals are expected to benefit from this aid , contributing to bridging the food gap and providing basic necessities for impoverished families.

High-quality medical campaigns in Jordan and Syria

On the medical front, the center intensified its efforts to combat diseases and treat intractable cases through highly efficient Saudi volunteer medical teams:

  • In Jordan: The center implemented the "Noor Saudi" volunteer project in the capital, Amman, which focused on combating blindness and its causes. During the period from January 23 to 28, 2026, the medical team examined 2,371 patients, performed 394 successful eye surgeries , and distributed 400 pairs of eyeglasses, thus restoring hope to patients who were suffering from severe vision problems.
  • In Syria: The center concluded its volunteer orthopedic surgery campaign in Damascus, with the participation of 16 volunteers. The campaign resulted in 45 joint replacement surgeries (hip and knee) and 31 delicate hand deformity correction surgeries, complex and expensive procedures, which were provided free of charge to Syrian patients.

Minimally invasive heart surgeries in Indonesia

Extending its humanitarian aid efforts to East Asia, the center launched a volunteer medical project for open-heart surgery in Jakarta, Indonesia. The project, which runs until February 8, 2026, involves 20 doctors and specialists. Since the start of the campaign, the team has successfully performed six open-heart surgeries, reflecting the high level of expertise of Saudi medical personnel in handling critical cases.

Facing the winter cold in Yemen

Regarding Yemen, and as part of the 2026 "Kanaf" project, the center continued its efforts to protect displaced people from the harsh winter. It distributed 270 shopping vouchers in Al-Sum district of Hadramawt Governorate, benefiting 270 displaced individuals and enabling them to purchase suitable winter clothing. This initiative aims to strengthen their resilience in the face of difficult climatic and living conditions.

These concurrent projects embody the humanitarian vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is not limited to providing in-kind assistance, but extends to include precise surgical medical interventions, thus enhancing the Kingdom’s position as one of the largest donor and supporter countries for humanitarian work worldwide.
