The Minister of Interior performs the funeral prayer for Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani

His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, performed the funeral prayer after the afternoon prayer on Friday for His Excellency the Assistant Minister of Interior for Operations, Lieutenant General Saeed bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani - may God have mercy on him - at the King Khalid Mosque in Riyadh, amidst an atmosphere of sadness over the passing of one of the most prominent security leaders in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Following the prayer, His Highness the Minister of Interior conveyed the condolences and sympathies of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them – to the sons and relatives of the deceased, asking God Almighty to have mercy on him and grant him a place in Paradise, and to inspire his family and relatives with patience and solace in this great tragedy.

A distinguished career in the service of national security

The late Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani was a prominent security figure who dedicated his life to serving his country, holding numerous sensitive leadership positions within the Ministry of Interior. He was known – may God have mercy on him – for his devotion and sincerity, and his astute field leadership, particularly during his tenure as Director of Public Security, where he played a pivotal role in developing the security apparatus and enhancing services provided to citizens and residents.

The deceased played a vital role in managing numerous complex security files and maintained a prominent presence during Hajj and Umrah seasons for many years, overseeing and planning to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims. His rank of Lieutenant General, the highest military rank, underscores the immense royal trust bestowed upon him and recognizes his tireless efforts in strengthening security and combating crime and terrorism.

Large official and popular attendance

The funeral prayer witnessed a remarkable attendance of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and senior state officials, in addition to leaders of the various security sectors of the Ministry of Interior, and a large crowd of citizens and admirers of the deceased, who came to offer their condolences and participate in the funeral procession, recalling the deceased’s virtues and his honorable life in serving religion, the King, and the nation.

The passing of Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani represents the loss of a prominent national figure who left clear marks on institutional security work, as he was a model of a security leader committed to the directives of the wise leadership, and keen to perform his duty with full competence until the last days of his working life.
