Moroccan tourism revenues in 2025: Record figures exceeding expectations

The Kingdom of Morocco achieved a qualitative leap in its tourism sector, recording unprecedented record figures during 2025, reflecting the success of the national strategies adopted to develop this vital sector. The Moroccan Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts officially announced that tourism revenues in foreign currency reached a record high of 138 billion dirhams by the end of last December, marking a remarkable increase of 21% compared to 2024.

Exceeding the goals of the roadmap

In analyzing this data, the Ministry explained that this exceptional performance was not merely a temporary surge in growth, but rather an achievement that far exceeded pre-set targets. Revenues surpassed the target of 120 billion dirhams set within the "Moroccan Tourism Roadmap 2026," confirming the effectiveness of the proactive and promotional plans adopted by the Kingdom to attract tourists from various global markets, and reinforcing confidence in the sector's ability to continue its rapid growth.

Record numbers of visitors

Growth wasn't limited to financial revenues; it also included visitor numbers. The Ministry revealed that Morocco welcomed a record 19.8 million tourists in 2025, a 14% increase compared to the previous year. This significant rise is attributed to the opening of additional flight routes connecting Morocco to key new tourist markets, as well as intensive promotional campaigns for diverse tourist destinations within the Kingdom, and the encouragement of investment in hotel infrastructure through the renovation of existing hotels and the opening of new accommodation units.

Domestic tourism and supporting the national economy

On another front, domestic tourism has proven its pivotal role as a key pillar for the sustainability of the sector, with national tourism contributing expenditures estimated at around 48 billion dirhams in 2025. This figure indicates the growing tourism culture among Moroccan citizens and their role in driving the local economy.

Economic importance and general context

These figures are particularly significant given the Kingdom's overall economic context; tourism accounts for approximately 7% of Morocco's GDP and is a major and vital source of foreign currency and job creation. This recovery further solidifies Morocco's position as a leading regional and international tourist destination, benefiting from its political stability, cultural and geographical diversity, and ongoing preparations to host major international sporting events in the coming years, making 2025 a pivotal year in the history of Moroccan tourism.
