The weather forecast warns of dense fog in Al-Baha and reduced visibility until morning

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued an important weather alert concerning the Al-Baha region, warning of dense fog that will directly affect horizontal visibility. The center explained in its report that the weather conditions will persist until 8:00 AM today, urging motorists and residents of the area to exercise caution.

Weather details and affected areas

According to the report issued by the Meteorology Department, the effects of the weather system are not limited to Al-Baha city alone, but extend to a number of vital governorates and highlands, namely: Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, Al-Qura, and Bani Hassan. The center indicated that this weather system will cause a decrease in horizontal visibility to levels ranging between 1 and 3 kilometers, which poses a challenge for drivers, especially on highways and in open areas where humid air currents are prevalent.

The geographical nature of the courtyard and its relationship to fog

The Al-Baha region possesses a unique geographical character that makes it susceptible to such weather phenomena, as it lies atop the towering Sarawat Mountains. Known as the "Garden of the Hijaz" due to its dense vegetation and high altitude, the region experiences lower temperatures and low-lying cloud cover, scientifically known as fog. This phenomenon is a defining feature of Al-Baha's climate, particularly during winter and spring, attracting tourists and visitors. However, it also necessitates strict safety precautions while traveling.

Traffic safety guidelines and the importance of early warning

In these conditions, security and traffic authorities, represented by road security and traffic departments, typically emphasize the importance of following safe driving guidelines in foggy conditions. These guidelines include using vehicle fog lights, avoiding high beams which can reduce visibility due to reflections on water droplets, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, and reducing speed according to road conditions. The National Center of Meteorology's warning comes as part of its vital role in activating the early warning system, which aims to protect lives and property by providing citizens and residents with accurate and up-to-date information about weather fluctuations before they occur. This enables relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of everyone.
