Wildlife receives ISO 14001 certification for environmental management

In a move reflecting its unwavering commitment to implementing the highest standards of quality and sustainability, the National Center for Wildlife Development announced that it has been awarded the ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems. This achievement follows the Center's successful fulfillment of all requirements of the internationally recognized standard, which primarily aims to improve the environmental performance of organizations and minimize the negative impacts associated with operational activities, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's efforts to protect natural resources.
Comprehensive development of the environmental work system
The center explained that obtaining this prestigious certification was not a coincidence, but rather the result of diligent work that included developing effective and comprehensive environmental management systems. These systems encompassed improving waste management mechanisms, implementing strict controls to reduce pollution of all kinds, and rationalizing the use of natural resources and energy. The center also updated its operational procedures to ensure that all activities comply with national environmental requirements and international agreements to which the Kingdom is a party.
In its journey to obtain accreditation, the center adopted precise scientific methodologies to measure environmental performance and assess potential risks, while implementing proactive corrective programs that ensure the quality of both field and administrative work.
Alignment with Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative
This achievement is particularly significant when viewed within the context of the major transformations underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Obtaining ISO 14001 certification aligns directly with the objectives of Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, which prioritize environmental protection and resource sustainability. This accreditation underscores that the Kingdom's environmental protection agencies apply the highest international standards to themselves before applying them to others, thereby enhancing institutional credibility and supporting the government's drive towards operational excellence.
Enhancing efficiency and protecting biodiversity
The center explained that its ISO 14001 certification reflects its success in integrating environmental considerations into its various daily operational processes. This integration effectively contributes to improving the efficiency of the center's environmental programs and strengthens its pivotal role in protecting biodiversity and restoring balance to the Kingdom's ecosystems. By reducing the environmental footprint of the center's operations, it mitigates indirect pressures on the sensitive ecosystems within which it operates.
The center concluded by affirming that this achievement represents a qualitative addition to the institutional development path, and an advanced step towards building an operational system that supports sustainability, which enhances the center’s ability to manage natural resources more efficiently, and to contribute effectively to achieving national aspirations for protecting the environment and sustaining its components for future generations.
