A pilgrim from Niger praises the Kingdom's efforts and calls for leadership in Arafat
Spiritual atmosphere on the plains of Arafat
In a scene of profound faith, embodying the deepest submission and supplication to God, and where tears of joy mingled with the reverence of this momentous occasion, Hajji Ibrahim Medajie Sharif, from the Republic of Niger, stood upon the sacred plains of Arafat. Sensing the immensity of this blessed day, Hajji Ibrahim recalled years of prayer and longing that God Almighty would grant him the opportunity to stand in this awe-inspiring scene, the most important pillar of Hajj, where throngs of Muslims gather to answer the Creator's call in a display of unity and equality.
The religious and historical significance of the Day of Arafah
The Day of Arafah holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims worldwide. It is the day on which the Hajj pilgrimage is completed, and millions turn their attention towards Mecca. Historically, this plain is the site where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his Farewell Sermon, bestowing upon it an exceptional sanctity and spirituality. On this day, souls are stripped of all worldly concerns, leaving only hope and supplication for mercy and forgiveness, a sentiment embodied by the Nigerian pilgrim through his tears and heartfelt prayers.
Feelings of gratitude and prayers for the Saudi leadership
Overwhelmed by these overwhelming emotions, Hajj Ibrahim expressed his profound gratitude, saying, “We have been eagerly awaiting this great day, and we pray for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince, asking God to increase their blessings and to make this country safe and secure, as our Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, prayed.” His voice choked with emotion, he added, “This is a great day we are proud of. Back in our countries, we used to pray to God Almighty to grant us the opportunity to witness it, even weeping with longing to be blessed with this day. And here we are today at Arafat, with nothing left but to pray to the Most Merciful to answer our prayers and grant us the highest Paradise.”.
The Kingdom's efforts in serving the pilgrims and its global impact
The Nigerian pilgrim's feelings weren't limited to the spiritual aspect alone; he also praised the tremendous efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He described his feelings as beyond words, emphasizing that the care and attention he witnessed from the moment he arrived in the Kingdom until his standing at Arafat had left a profound impact on him. He said, "The overwhelming joy and happiness we experienced, and the warm welcome, almost brought me to tears. They received and hosted us beyond anything one could expect, and we didn't pay a thing. Glory be to God!".
This firsthand account reflects the regional and international impact of the Kingdom's efforts in crowd management and providing healthcare, security, and logistical support to millions of pilgrims annually. These integrated services are part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the "Serving the Guests of God" program, which aims to transform the Hajj and Umrah experience, facilitate hosting more Muslims from around the world, and provide the highest levels of service befitting the Kingdom's status as the Qibla for Muslims.
A heartfelt thank you message
The pilgrim continued, his voice brimming with gratitude, saying, “We pray that God blesses the lives of the kings of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who bestowed this great gift upon us, and that He rewards them abundantly for the service, care, and attention they provide to the guests of God.” In Arafat, where souls are stripped of all but hope, Ibrahim’s words seemed to encapsulate the feelings of thousands of pilgrims who carried their prayers and tears to the plains of Arafat, believing that this day is the greatest season of answered prayers, mercy, and tranquility.
