They also discussed the latest developments in the region, emphasizing the need to continue and intensify all efforts aimed at achieving regional and international security and stability.
The depth of historical relations and the Joint Coordination Council
This visit comes within the context of ongoing diplomatic efforts between Riyadh and Muscat, which have witnessed significant development in recent years, particularly following the activation of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council. This council serves as a cornerstone for framing joint action, aiming to deepen cooperation on political, security, and economic issues. These relations are based on a long-standing legacy of brotherhood, neighborliness, and shared destiny under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Alignment of the 2030 and 2040 strategic visions
Discussions between the two sides are not limited to the political sphere alone, but extend to aligning the Kingdom's Vision 2030 with Oman's Vision 2040. Both countries seek to create promising investment opportunities and enhance trade exchange, in addition to developing the infrastructure and logistics linking them, such as the direct land route that has facilitated trade and movement, thus strengthening economic integration as part of a comprehensive security framework.
Regional challenges and hot topics
This meeting is of particular importance given the sensitive timeframe in the Middle East. Both Saudi Arabia and Oman play pivotal roles in addressing regional crises. On the one hand, the Kingdom is leading intensive diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, while on the other hand, Omani diplomacy is known for its vital role in mediation and bridging differences on numerous complex issues.
The talks likely touched in depth on the Yemeni file and efforts to establish lasting peace there, in addition to developments in the Gaza Strip and their repercussions on the security of the Red Sea and freedom of navigation, which are files that require high coordination and unified positions to ensure that the region is spared further escalation.
Strengthening joint Gulf action
The meeting between the two foreign ministers underscores the two countries' commitment to strengthening joint Gulf cooperation and unifying their political stances on Arab and Islamic issues in international forums. Continued coordination between Riyadh and Muscat is a cornerstone of stability for the region, as the political weight of both countries contributes to formulating sustainable solutions to the security and political challenges facing the region.
