Prince Nayef Quran Competition: Prizes worth 3 million for Ministry of Interior employees

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced the launch of the first edition of the "Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran," dedicated to male and female employees of the security sectors throughout the Kingdom. This unique initiative features substantial cash prizes totaling 3 million riyals, meticulously distributed across five different categories of competition.

A lasting legacy in the service of the Book of God

This competition holds special significance as it bears the name of His Royal Highness Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – a statesman whose name was synonymous for many years with serving the Sunnah and the Holy Quran. This competition is a continuation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's long-standing approach, established since its founding by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud – may God rest his soul – and continuing through the prosperous era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman – may God protect them both – in caring for the Holy Quran through printing, publishing, and teaching.

This competition is a tribute to the efforts of the late Prince who led the Ministry of Interior for decades, as he paid great attention to the moral and spiritual aspect of the security men, believing that adherence to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an is the basic pillar of intellectual security, and the primary support for behavioral integrity, which positively reflects on the performance of the security men in serving religion and the nation.

Branch details and million-dollar prizes

The organizing committee has allocated incentive cash prizes of up to 3,000,000 Saudi Riyals to ensure strong competition befitting the status of the Holy Quran. The competition has been divided into five branches that take into account the different levels of memorization:

  • The first category: Memorizing the entire Holy Quran, and its total prize is 1,200,000 riyals.
  • The second category: Memorizing 15 parts, and its total prize is 800,000 riyals.
  • Third category: Memorizing 10 parts, and its total prize is 500,000 riyals.
  • The fourth category: Memorizing 5 parts, and its total prize is 300,000 riyals.
  • Fifth category: Memorizing two parts, and its total prize is 200,000 riyals.

Terms of participation and regulatory controls

The organizing committee established a set of precise conditions to ensure the quality of the competition. Participation is limited to Ministry of Interior personnel (military, civilian, and students) who are currently serving or enrolled in studies. A minimum score of 85% is required to pass the preliminary rounds. Military participants are required to wear their official uniforms during the recitation and must adhere to the category specified on their nomination form.

Regarding the technical aspects of memorization, the competition stipulated that the amount memorized must be consecutive. If the memorization is fragmented, this is permitted provided that it does not exceed three places in the Quran, and that the memorization begins from the beginning of the part and ends with its end, which reflects the Ministry’s keenness to produce a generation of proficient Quranic protectors of the homeland.
