SAR launches the sixth round of its "Safer for You 2025" campaign to promote safety

Saudi Railways (SAR) will launch its 2025 field awareness campaign for safety tomorrow, Friday, under the slogan "Safer for You," starting in Al-Zulfi Governorate. This initiative builds on the campaign's significant successes over the past three years and marks its sixth edition, which primarily aims to enhance public safety and protect lives and property across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's railway network.

Raising awareness and supporting the goals of Vision 2030

The "Safer for You" campaign is not merely a fleeting awareness initiative, but an integral part of national efforts to support the National Transport and Logistics Strategy , stemming from the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The Kingdom seeks to solidify its position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents, which necessitates a railway infrastructure that meets the highest standards of safety and reliability. Through these campaigns, SAR works to cultivate a more informed and understanding community environment surrounding the railway lines, fostering a deeper appreciation for the importance of this vital facility. This ensures the sustainability of operations and the smooth flow of passenger and freight traffic without disruptions or accidents.

Targeting specific groups and establishing safe behaviors

The sixth phase of the campaign focuses on reinforcing awareness messages among specific segments of society most frequently in contact with railway lines. These groups include residents of villages and settlements adjacent to the railway, livestock owners, hikers, campers, and schoolchildren in those areas. SAR aims to modify dangerous behaviors, such as crossing in undesignated areas or overgrazing near the tracks, which could lead to disastrous consequences.

Deterrent penalties to protect lives and property

On the legal and regulatory front, the campaign, in its latest iteration, emphasized the legal consequences of trespassing on railway property. SAR clarified that the regulations include strict penalties for violators, with fines reaching up to 500,000 Saudi Riyals , imprisonment, or both, in addition to obligating violators to pay for any damages caused to public property. This emphasis underscores that the safety of lives is paramount and that safe crossing must be exclusively through designated crossings and bridges.

This initiative reflects SAR’s commitment to its social responsibility and its tireless efforts to reduce the accident rate to the lowest global levels, which enhances the efficiency of the railway transport sector in the Kingdom and makes it a safe and preferred option for transportation and shipping.
