New Saudi aid in Gaza to support food security | King Salman Center

New Saudi relief aid arrives in the Gaza Strip

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts, a new aid convoy from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has arrived in the Gaza Strip. This convoy, carrying a variety of food baskets, is part of the Saudi public campaign to aid the Palestinian people in the Strip, aiming to enhance food security and alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis facing the population.

This aid was delivered to the Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, the implementing partner of the King Salman Relief Center’s programs in the Gaza Strip, to be distributed to displaced families and the most needy groups in different areas of the Strip, thus contributing to bridging part of the acute shortage of basic food supplies.

The general context and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza

This aid comes at a critical time for the Gaza Strip, which has been experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis since October 2023. The current situation has led to the displacement of more than 85% of the population and widespread destruction of infrastructure, creating immense challenges in accessing food, clean water, and healthcare. International organizations have consistently warned of the risks of famine and malnutrition, particularly among children, women, and the elderly, making international humanitarian aid a vital lifeline for the population.

Continued support through central kitchens

Alongside the aid convoys, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's central kitchen in Gaza continues its daily efforts to provide food assistance. The kitchen distributed 25,000 hot meals in the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, benefiting 25,000 displaced individuals. This initiative aims to provide nutritious and ready-to-eat meals to families who have lost their homes and lack even the most basic cooking equipment, ensuring they have access to healthy food daily.

The importance and impact of Saudi aid

This aid is of paramount importance on several levels. Locally, it directly contributes to saving lives and alleviating the suffering of thousands of Palestinian families facing starvation, offering them a glimmer of hope amidst dire circumstances. Regionally, these efforts underscore the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Arab and humanitarian causes, reflecting its longstanding and unwavering commitment to standing with the Palestinian people. Internationally, these initiatives are part of the global response to the crisis, highlighting the Kingdom's role as an active and reliable partner in international humanitarian action and encouraging other countries and organizations to intensify their relief efforts.

This aid reflects the continuity of Saudi support, which has never been interrupted, as it is part of an integrated series of relief projects implemented by the Kingdom through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief Center, to address crises and hardships around the world.
