The Saudi capital, Riyadh, is witnessing a massive and unprecedented construction boom in one of its most prominent sports landmarks, as construction work continues at the King Fahd Sports City Stadium at an accelerated pace, to transform this historic monument, known as “The Pearl,” into a global architectural masterpiece that complies with the latest standards of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA).

Advanced stages in structure and air conditioning

According to the latest developments on the ground, project workers have begun installing the new and improved metal structure of the stadium's roof (tent), a crucial step that will transform the stadium's exterior and interior appearance. Simultaneously, the installation of the stadium and stands' air conditioning vents has been completed, along with the completion of the main piping for the advanced cooling systems, ensuring an ideal environment for fans and players in all weather conditions.

Work has also been completed on the tunnels, player entrances, and vital infrastructure in several areas of the project. Official figures indicate that more than 111,000 cubic meters of concrete have been poured, and over 11,500 tons of reinforcing steel have been installed to support the stadium's structural framework and associated facilities. To expedite work on the stands, 1,400 precast concrete segments , reflecting the scale of the engineering effort involved.

Over 17,000 workers rigorous on-site safety and quality training programs, reflecting the project's commitment to the highest occupational safety standards. Economically, the project has significantly boosted local content through the participation of national factories and suppliers, resulting in the adoption of locally manufactured stadium systems for the first time in the history of Saudi sports facilities.
