Saudi Arabia condemns Israeli violations in Gaza and calls for international intervention

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its firm and unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, strongly condemning the continued blatant Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip. In its successive diplomatic statements, the Kingdom affirmed its categorical rejection of the targeting of unarmed civilians and the destruction of infrastructure, calling upon the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to halt the war machine and end the bloodshed.

In light of the escalating events, Saudi Arabia called for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors to deliver relief, medical, and food aid to the besieged population of the Gaza Strip. Saudi diplomats stressed that the continuation of these violations constitutes a clear breach of international law and international humanitarian law, and threatens to undermine the prospects for peace and stability in the entire region.

This condemnation is a continuation of the historical and pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. For decades, Riyadh has been at the forefront of proposing peace initiatives, most notably the Arab Peace Initiative launched in 2002, which stipulated the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as a fundamental condition for achieving a comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East.

On the diplomatic front, the Kingdom spearheaded intensive efforts by hosting emergency Arab and Islamic summits and conducting shuttle diplomacy with its counterparts in major powers, aiming to garner international pressure on Israel to halt its military operations. Riyadh consistently affirms that military solutions will not bring security to any party and that genuine peace can only be achieved through a political process that guarantees the rights of the Palestinians.

Observers believe the Saudi position is of paramount strategic importance, given the Kingdom's political, economic, and religious weight in the Arab and Islamic worlds. This firm stance contributes to unifying the Arab ranks and places international powers before their responsibilities to prevent the conflict from escalating into a full-blown regional war with potentially catastrophic consequences for international peace and security.
