Al-Jubeir: Saudi Arabia is providing $1 billion to support the Palestinians

In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm commitment to the Palestinian cause, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member and Climate Envoy, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, announced that the Kingdom will provide a huge financial contribution of up to one billion dollars, aimed directly at alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people.

This announcement came during Al-Jubeir's participation in the "Peace Council" meetings, where he affirmed in his address that the Kingdom spares no effort in supporting stability in the region. Al-Jubeir noted that this contribution is an extension of Saudi Arabia's leading role in supporting Arab and Islamic causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, which the Kingdom considers its primary concern.

Reviving the peace process and the Kingdom's initiative

In discussing political solutions, Al-Jubeir revived the momentum surrounding the Arab Peace Initiative, emphasizing that this initiative, presented by Saudi Arabia at the Beirut Summit in 2002, was and remains a realistic and comprehensive roadmap for a solution. Al-Jubeir stated, "The Arab Peace Initiative, presented by Saudi Arabia, initiated a path toward peace," stressing that the Kingdom is working tirelessly to achieve a lasting and just peace in the Middle East that guarantees the rights of all parties in accordance with international resolutions.

A historical record of humanitarian and political support

This generous donation is not an isolated event, but rather another link in a long chain of Saudi support for Palestine. Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been one of the largest donors to the Palestinian Authority and to international organizations operating in the occupied territories, such as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). This ongoing support aims to strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people on their land and to provide essential services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure, amidst the difficult economic and political conditions facing the Palestinian territories.

Regional and international dimensions of the decision

This announcement carries profound political and humanitarian implications at both the regional and international levels. On the humanitarian front, these funds will help bridge critical funding gaps that could save vital sectors from collapse. Politically, the timing of the announcement sends a clear message to the international community that Saudi Arabia is leveraging its economic and political power to serve regional stability, and that security solutions cannot succeed without addressing the root humanitarian and political causes of crises.

Al-Jubeir concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the Kingdom will continue to work with international partners to ensure that this aid reaches those who deserve it, and to advance peace efforts that guarantee security and prosperity for all the peoples of the region.
