Saudi Arabia weather on Saturday: Rain, fog, and frost in 8 regions

The National Center for Meteorology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued its daily report on the expected weather conditions for this Saturday, revealing weather fluctuations affecting several regions, ranging from rainfall, fog formation, and dust-raising winds, which calls for caution and vigilance on the part of citizens, residents, and highway users.
Weather details and affected areas
The center explained in its statement that there is still a chance of light rain, accompanied by reduced horizontal visibility due to dense fog during the early morning hours. This weather condition will affect large parts of the highlands of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions. The effects of fog and light rain will also extend to parts of the Riyadh and Eastern regions, which may impact traffic in those areas.
In a related context, the center warned of active surface winds stirring up dust and sand, which reduce horizontal visibility in parts of the aforementioned regions, as well as the coastal areas of Tabuk and Madinah. These fluctuations are part of the typical winter weather patterns in the Kingdom, characterized by the interaction of air masses and the activation of surface currents.
Lower temperatures and frost formation
The forecast clearly indicated a significant drop in temperatures across most of the Kingdom. The likelihood of frost is increasing during the early morning hours, particularly in parts of northern Saudi Arabia. This drop is part of the typical cold spells for this time of year, requiring residents in the northern regions to take necessary precautions to stay warm.
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the marine conditions, the center provided a detailed breakdown of wave and wind movements:
- Red Sea: Northwesterly to northerly winds prevail at speeds of 20-40 km/h in the northern and central parts, while wind speeds range from 15-32 km/h, reaching up to 45 km/h with thunderstorms in the southern part. Wave heights range from 1 to 2 meters in the north and central parts, and from half a meter to 1.5 meters in the south.
- The Arabian Gulf: Northwesterly to northerly winds at 10-25 km/h are expected in the north, while southeasterly to northeasterly winds at 10-22 km/h are expected in the central and southern parts. The sea will be generally calm, but may become choppy with the development of thunderstorms and rain in the northern part.
The relevant authorities always stress the need to follow official weather bulletins and avoid open areas during strong wind activity or low visibility to ensure everyone's safety.
