Today's temperatures in Saudi Arabia: Dammam 30 and Mecca 32

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia announced today, Monday, details of the recorded and expected maximum temperatures across the Kingdom's various cities and provinces. The report showed a significant variation in temperature levels, reflecting the Kingdom's considerable geographical and climatic diversity. Dammam recorded 30 degrees Celsius, while temperatures varied between coastal, mountainous, and northern regions.

Statement of maximum temperatures in the cities of the Kingdom

According to official data issued by the center, the maximum temperatures for today were as follows, with Mecca, Al-Ahsa and Hafr Al-Batin topping the list as the warmest areas:

  • Eastern and Central Region: Dammam recorded 30 degrees Celsius, Al-Ahsa 32 degrees, and Hafr Al-Batin 32 degrees, while the capital Riyadh recorded 29 degrees Celsius, Al-Kharj 29 degrees, and Al-Saman 31 degrees.
  • Western and coastal region: The temperature reached 32 degrees Celsius in Mecca, 31 degrees in Medina, 30 degrees in Jeddah, 30 degrees in Yanbu, and 30 degrees in Al Qunfudhah.
  • Northern regions (colder): Tarif recorded the lowest temperatures at 17 degrees Celsius, Al Qurayyat at 18 degrees, Tabuk at 22 degrees, and Arar and Sakaka at 21 degrees each.
  • Southern Highlands: The mountainous regions were characterized by moderate and cool weather, with Abha recording 22 degrees, Al-Baha 19 degrees, while Al-Soudah recorded only 15 degrees Celsius.
  • Other cities: Buraidah 30 degrees, Hail 27 degrees, Jazan 30 degrees, Najran 27 degrees, Taif 24 degrees.

Climate diversity and the importance of weather monitoring

This report reflects the geographical nature of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which spans a vast area, resulting in multiple climatic patterns occurring simultaneously. While northern regions such as Tarif and Al Qurayyat experience a noticeable drop in temperatures due to the influence of air masses coming from the north, the coastal and central regions maintain relatively warm and moderate temperatures for this time of year. Mecca and the Holy Sites remain within the hottest range due to their low-lying topography.

The role of the National Center for Meteorology and the impact of data

These daily reports are of paramount importance at both the local and regional levels. Locally, citizens and residents rely on this data to plan their daily activities, particularly regarding overland travel between cities experiencing significant temperature variations (such as traveling from Riyadh at 29 degrees Celsius to Tarif at 17 degrees Celsius). This data also plays a pivotal role in vital sectors like agriculture, where farmers need to know temperature levels to regulate irrigation and harvesting, as well as in the health and education sectors to ensure everyone's safety.

The National Center for Meteorology continues to use the latest technologies to monitor weather elements, with the aim of providing accurate information that contributes to raising the level of weather awareness and enhancing public safety throughout the Kingdom.
