His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call today from Her Excellency Anita Anand, the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the call, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields, in addition to discussing the latest regional and international developments.

Strengthening joint diplomatic coordination

The call focused primarily on discussing the latest developments in the Middle East, with both sides exchanging views on issues of mutual interest. This call comes at a time when the region is facing rapidly escalating geopolitical challenges that necessitate high-level coordination among international and regional actors. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued consultations to ensure international peace and security and to work towards containing crises through diplomatic channels.

The Kingdom's leading role in the stability of the region

This contact reflects the political and diplomatic weight of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and its pivotal role in leading de-escalation efforts in the region. Through its proactive diplomacy, the Kingdom consistently strives to promote dialogue and support all efforts aimed at halting escalation in hotspots, a stance that is welcomed and appreciated by the international community, including Canada, which views the Kingdom as a key strategic partner in the Middle East.

The course of Saudi-Canadian relations

These talks come amid growing relations between Riyadh and Ottawa, as both countries seek to build on common ground and strengthen economic and political cooperation. These relations are particularly important given both countries' membership in the G20, which provides them with greater scope to coordinate on global economic issues and sustainable development, as well as to cooperate in the fields of energy and investment.

The importance of unified international action

The call concluded with an emphasis on the need for concerted international efforts to address the humanitarian and security challenges posed by current conflicts. Analysts note that such high-level contacts contribute to developing shared visions that help formulate sustainable solutions to crises, stressing that Saudi-Canadian coordination serves the interests of global market stability, waterway security, and the protection of civilians in conflict zones.
