Saudi Foreign Minister and Chinese envoy discuss regional security

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed with the Special Envoy of the Chinese Government for Middle East Affairs the latest developments and the evolving situation in the region, within the framework of ongoing consultations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China to enhance regional and international security and stability.

Strengthening bilateral relations and strategic partnership

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and discussed ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields. These talks reaffirm the depth of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Riyadh and Beijing, which has witnessed remarkable progress in recent years, particularly given the convergence of views on many international issues and the shared commitment to supporting development and peace efforts.

China's growing role in the Middle East

These talks are particularly important given China's growing diplomatic role in the Middle East. This role is built on a foundation of diplomatic successes, most notably Beijing's sponsorship of the historic agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran in March 2013, which helped reduce tensions in the region and opened new avenues for regional cooperation. Analysts indicate that continued Saudi-Chinese coordination is essential to ensuring the sustainability of these understandings and addressing current security challenges.

Regional developments and hot topics

The meeting addressed extensively regional and international issues of mutual concern, foremost among them the situation in the Gaza Strip and the efforts underway to achieve a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid. The Saudi and Chinese perspectives converge on the necessity of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law, with China consistently supporting the Arab and Islamic position in international forums, including the UN Security Council.

Economic integration and Vision 2030

On the economic front, the political track cannot be separated from the massive economic cooperation between the two countries. China is the Kingdom's largest trading partner, and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 align with China's Belt and Road Initiative, creating tremendous investment opportunities that benefit the people of both nations and contribute to global economic stability, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continued coordination and consultation on all issues of concern to both countries, and support for all efforts aimed at establishing the foundations of international peace and security.
