Saudi Interior Minister meets with his Malaysian counterpart to discuss security cooperation

In a move reflecting the depth of bilateral relations and ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, received today at his office in Makkah, His Excellency Dato' Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Interior of Malaysia. This important meeting, held on the sidelines of the Hajj season, underscores the importance of joint coordination to ensure the safety and security of the pilgrims.

During the meeting, ways to enhance existing security cooperation between the interior ministries of the two brotherly countries were reviewed, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common interest that serve the interests of both countries at the regional and international levels. This cooperation comes within the framework of deep-rooted historical relations between Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur, based on mutual respect and shared interests, particularly in the economic, religious, and cultural fields.

Malaysian praise for the Kingdom's efforts in serving pilgrims

For his part, the Malaysian Minister expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, for the comprehensive services and extensive facilities provided to pilgrims. He commended the Kingdom's exceptional efforts annually to ensure that pilgrims, including Malaysian pilgrims, can perform their rituals with ease, comfort, and peace of mind. Malaysia is among the countries benefiting from the "Makkah Route Initiative," which has significantly facilitated the entry procedures for its pilgrims into the Kingdom, reflecting the advanced level of coordination between the two countries.

Strategic importance of Hajj management

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia places paramount importance on managing the Hajj and Umrah seasons, dedicating all its material and human resources to serving the millions of Muslims who flock to the Holy Land each year. These efforts include massive infrastructure projects, such as the expansion of the Two Holy Mosques and the development of transportation networks, in addition to employing the latest technologies and digital solutions to enhance the efficiency of services provided. The successful organization of the Hajj is a cornerstone of the Kingdom's position as a leader of the Islamic world and reinforces its pivotal role on the international stage.

The reception was attended on the Saudi side by a number of senior officials, including His Highness Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Deputy Minister of Interior, His Excellency Assistant Minister of Interior for Operations Lieutenant General Saeed bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Minister’s Office for Studies and Research Major General Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Arwan, and Director General of Legal Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Issa, which confirms the importance that the Kingdom attaches to this cooperation.
