Nasr Al-Ansari, official spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Tourism
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism announced the appointment of Mr. Nasr bin Saad Al-Ansari as its official spokesperson, in addition to his current role as Director of Public Relations and Media. This appointment comes at a crucial time for the tourism sector in the Kingdom, aiming to strengthen institutional communication mechanisms and enhance transparency in disseminating information related to the Ministry's initiatives and ambitious projects.
This decision is a strategic step aligned with the major transformations underway in Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030, which positions the tourism sector as a cornerstone for diversifying the national economy and reducing dependence on oil. Since the launch of Vision 2030, the Kingdom has undergone extensive structural reforms, most notably the transformation of the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage into an independent Ministry of Tourism in 2020, and the launch of the electronic tourist visa system in 2019, which has opened the Kingdom's doors to visitors from around the world. In this context, having a competent and experienced official spokesperson is essential to keep pace with this significant momentum and effectively manage the sector's media image.
The significance of this appointment extends beyond the local level to the regional and international levels. Locally, Al-Ansari will work to facilitate access to accurate information for citizens, residents, and local media, and raise awareness of mega tourism projects such as NEOM, the Red Sea Project, Qiddiya, and Al-Ula, in addition to the promising investment opportunities in the sector. Internationally, he will play a pivotal role in presenting the Kingdom as a leading global tourist destination, highlighting its cultural, heritage, and natural diversity, correcting any misconceptions, and building bridges of trust with global tourism markets and international investors.
Professor Nasr Al-Ansari possesses a rich professional background that makes him a suitable choice for this position. He holds a Master's degree in International Media and Communication from the University of Bridgeport in the United States and a Bachelor's degree in Media from King Saud University. He also has extensive experience in media and public relations, having held leadership positions in several organizations in both the public and private sectors. His academic and practical expertise is expected to contribute to developing the Ministry of Tourism's media strategy and ensuring its messages are delivered clearly and professionally to all target audiences, thus supporting the achievement of the National Tourism Strategy's objectives.
