Saudi scouts' efforts to serve visitors to the Prophet's Mosque during Ramadan
Scout mobilization to serve the pilgrims
The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association intensified its volunteer and field work to serve visitors and pilgrims to the Prophet's Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan. These efforts reflect the Association's commitment to providing the best possible humanitarian and organizational services to the guests of God. As a culmination of these ongoing efforts, the Assistant Secretary-General for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Mr. Nasser bin Ali Al-Anzi, conducted an extensive inspection visit to the Ramadan Scout Camp in Madinah. The visit aimed to directly assess the readiness of the scout units and ensure the highest levels of operational efficiency in the courtyards surrounding the Prophet's Mosque.
Historical context and pioneering role of Saudi scouts
The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association was founded in 1381 AH (1961 CE). Since then, the association has undertaken a major national and Islamic responsibility: serving the pilgrims of the Holy Mosque in Mecca and the visitors of the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. Volunteer work at the Two Holy Mosques is one of the most important pillars upon which the Saudi Scouts rely to instill the values of giving and selflessness in young people. These ongoing and historic efforts align with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aspires to reach one million volunteers, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a leading global model in humanitarian and volunteer work.
Diversity of field and organizational tasks
The field tour included a comprehensive review of the various deployment sites where young scouts carry out their noble humanitarian duties. These duties range from operating guidance points to direct lost individuals and ensure their safe arrival at their destinations, to managing wheelchair stations to assist the elderly and people with disabilities, thus facilitating their performance of religious rites with ease and peace of mind. In addition, the scouts actively contribute to organizing pedestrian traffic and managing large crowds in cooperation with security forces, as well as providing organizational support for the flow of visitors within the health centers adjacent to the Holy Mosque, reflecting the scouts' high capacity to work within a comprehensive and professional system.
The local and international impact of integrating national efforts
During his tour, Al-Anzi emphasized that the association works in complete harmony and strategic integration with various governmental and non-governmental sectors to enhance the quality of services provided to pilgrims. This integration not only impacts the local level but also extends to the regional and international levels, as millions of visitors from around the world experience this meticulous organization and refined, humane treatment, reflecting the honorable image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims. Providing a safe and organized environment directly contributes to enriching the spiritual experience of visitors and pilgrims.
Preparing young people for life and building the future
At the conclusion of his tour, the Assistant Secretary-General explained that the Scout Movement represents a global educational methodology that focuses primarily on preparing young people to meet the demands of life. This is achieved through practical, field-based activities that foster self-reliance, instill the principles of discipline and initiative, and develop teamwork skills. These service camps in Mecca and Medina provide a practical educational environment that contributes to cultivating noble volunteer values and strengthening a sense of national responsibility among young people, thus preparing them to be responsible citizens capable of actively contributing to the comprehensive development process. He concluded the visit by expressing his deep gratitude and appreciation to all participating Scout sectors for their outstanding contributions and continuous dedication, which embodies the true message of Scouting and supports the efforts of the wise leadership.
