Weather forecast: Winds and dust in 10 Saudi regions this week

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia announced its weather forecast for the coming days, indicating continued surface wind activity that will stir up dust and sand, accompanied by high waves along the coasts. The center explained that the effects of this weather system will begin to be noticeable starting tomorrow, Monday, and will continue until the end of the week, urging citizens and residents to take precautions.

The report details that wind activity will be noticeably strong during daylight hours, initially concentrated in the Tabuk, Madinah, and Makkah regions, including their coastal areas. These winds are expected to reduce horizontal visibility in open areas and on highways, requiring extra caution from drivers.

The effects of these weather fluctuations will not be limited to the western and northwestern regions, but will extend to Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders, and Hail. As the day progresses and the week unfolds, the geographical scope of the weather system will widen to include Al-Qassim, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and as far south as Najran, making the situation widespread and affecting most of the Kingdom.

These weather fluctuations are typical of Saudi Arabia's climate during seasonal transitions, when surface winds become active due to differences in atmospheric pressure. These phenomena are part of the Arabian Peninsula's geographical and climatic characteristics, where the desert topography plays a significant role in how quickly the atmosphere is affected by wind patterns and the stirring up of suspended dust.

Locally, these warnings are of paramount importance to several sectors, most notably land and sea transport. Dust storms are expected to reduce visibility on highways connecting major cities, such as the Riyadh-Dammam road, and on coastal roads in the west. High waves may also affect maritime navigation and fishing in the Red Sea, necessitating close monitoring of marine weather forecasts.

The National Center of Meteorology urges everyone to follow its daily reports and early warnings issued through its official platforms, and to adhere to the instructions of the relevant authorities, especially those with respiratory conditions and asthma, as dusty conditions may exacerbate their symptoms. The Center affirms its continued monitoring of the weather around the clock to ensure the safety of lives and property.
