The Second Makkah Associations Forum: Towards the Sustainability of Charitable Work, under the patronage of the Deputy Prince
Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, the Charitable Villages Development Association (Tanmia) is preparing to launch the "Second Forum of Associations in the Governorates and Villages of Makkah Region." This important event is scheduled to be held in Jeddah on January 28th, under the strategic theme "From Impact to Sustainability.".
Strengthening the non-profit sector in light of Vision 2030
This forum is being held at a time when the non-profit sector in Saudi Arabia is undergoing radical transformations and rapid development, in line with the goals of Vision 2030, which seeks to increase the sector's contribution to the GDP and enhance its social impact. This forum is a pivotal step in empowering charitable organizations, particularly those operating in rural and provincial areas, to keep pace with these transformations by adopting professional practices that ensure the sustainability of their work and maximize their developmental returns.
Forum objectives: From pastoral to developmental
The forum primarily aims to bring about a qualitative shift in the performance of NGOs, transforming their focus from traditional welfare work to sustainable development work based on impact measurement. The event will concentrate on building an integrated performance measurement system and raising awareness among rural associations about the importance of using modern measurement tools, such as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), the Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology, and the theory of change, to ensure their outputs align with national priorities.
A strategic platform for unifying efforts
In a statement, Engineer Mohammed Omar Al-Nahari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tanmia Association, affirmed that the second edition of the forum represents a continuation of the association's approach to establishing a culture of impactful action. He explained that the forum serves as a strategic platform aimed at unifying efforts among various entities and enhancing the operational efficiency of associations in the Makkah region. Al-Nahari emphasized the importance of empowering community leaders and building effective partnerships with the governmental, private, and academic sectors to transform successful experiences into replicable and scalable models, thus ensuring the financial and operational sustainability of initiatives.
Knowledge movement and broad partnerships
The forum is expected to be a dynamic exchange of knowledge, with the participation of over 300 organizations and NGOs, and the attendance of more than 1,000 participants, including leaders in the charitable sector and decision-makers. The forum's agenda will include the signing of at least 10 cooperation agreements and strategic partnerships, in addition to dialogue sessions and specialized workshops led by a select group of experts. More than 10 success stories of rural associations that have made a tangible difference in their communities will also be showcased, alongside an accompanying exhibition featuring prominent figures in the field.
