His Excellency President Bassirou Diomêne Faye of the Republic of Senegal and his accompanying delegation arrived in Jeddah today, Thursday, for a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This visit comes within the framework of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

At the forefront of those welcoming His Excellency upon his arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport was His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, who welcomed the distinguished guest and his entourage to their second home. Also participating in the reception were His Excellency the Mayor of Jeddah, Saleh bin Ali Al-Turki; the Director of Makkah Region Police, Major General Saleh Al-Jabri; the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to the Kingdom, Biram Mbaneck Dieng; and the Director of Royal Protocol in Makkah Region, Ahmed Abdullah bin Thafir.

This visit is of particular importance given the historical and strong relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Senegal, characterized by strategic depth and ongoing cooperation across various fields. Senegal is a key partner for the Kingdom in West Africa, as both countries are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and share similar views on many regional and international issues of concern to the Muslim world.

On the developmental and economic level, Saudi-Senegalese relations are witnessing remarkable progress, as the Kingdom, through the Saudi Fund for Development, has contributed to financing many vital projects in Senegal, including the infrastructure, energy, education, and health sectors, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the development process in sisterly and friendly countries.

The Senegalese president's visit to Jeddah, the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques, underscores the spiritual significance of the Kingdom in the hearts of Muslims worldwide and its leading role in serving pilgrims to the holy sites. This visit is expected to open new horizons for bilateral cooperation, serving the interests of both nations and fulfilling their aspirations for further progress and prosperity, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which places great importance on strengthening partnerships with African countries.
