The transfer of donation platform services to Ihsan: Unifying charitable work in Saudi Arabia

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the non-profit sector, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development , in cooperation with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority ( SDAIA ), announced the transfer of all services from the National Donations Platform (Tabarru’) to the National Charitable Work Platform ( Ihsan ). This decision aims to unify digital efforts in the field of charitable giving within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Objectives of integrating donation platforms in Saudi Arabia

This crucial measure aims to unify official channels for charitable work in the Kingdom, thereby strengthening integration between government entities and the non-profit sector. This step directly contributes to achieving the goals of Vision 2030 , which seeks to increase the non-profit sector's contribution to the GDP and regulate donation processes to ensure that aid reaches its intended beneficiaries easily and efficiently.

The role of SDAIA and digital transformation in charitable work

The “Ihsan” platform, developed by SDAIA, is a pioneering model for leveraging data and artificial intelligence to serve humanitarian work. Since its launch, the platform has successfully raised billions of riyals and directed them to various charitable fields (health, social, educational, and relief). The integration of “Tabarru’” services with “Ihsan” further strengthens the digital infrastructure for charitable work, as SDAIA provides advanced technological solutions that ensure the highest standards of security and reliability in financial transactions.

Strengthening governance and transparency

The relevant authorities explained that this step will enable millions of beneficiaries and donors to access donation services more easily and reliably through a unified interface. The Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) indicated that integrating donation services into a unified national platform reinforces the principles of governance and transparency , which are fundamental pillars for increasing public trust in official channels. This is achieved by ensuring that donations reach their intended recipients in accordance with strict regulations and controls, and by connecting donors with those in need across the Kingdom through reliable and secure mechanisms.

Expected impact locally and regionally

This integration complements national efforts to maximize the impact of the non-profit sector and enhance Saudi Arabia's standing in the World Giving Index . By unifying platforms, the fragmentation of efforts and duplication of services are eliminated, thereby increasing the efficiency of charitable spending. This transformation also reflects the Kingdom's commitment to fostering a culture of giving, in line with the noble goals and lofty objectives of Vision 2030, setting a regional benchmark for managing charitable work digitally.

Under this transition, all donation services for individuals and charities that were previously available in “Tabarru’a” will be available through the “Ihsan” platform, which enhances the latter’s role as the first national umbrella for supporting development work and promoting sustainable community giving.
