358,000 beneficiaries of translation services at the Grand Mosque through the Hadiya Association

As part of ongoing efforts to serve the pilgrims and facilitate their performance of rituals, the translation and inquiry answering project at the Grand Mosque, implemented by the Hajj and Umrah Gift Association in strategic partnership with the General Presidency for Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, has achieved remarkable success by serving more than 358,000 beneficiaries.

Enhancing the experience of pilgrims in line with Vision 2030

This unique project aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which places great emphasis on enriching the experience of pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah. The language barrier is one of the most significant challenges facing non-Arabic speakers visiting the Two Holy Mosques, making translation services a cornerstone of the services provided. The project aims to ensure access to accurate religious information, clarify rituals, and provide precise answers to questions and inquiries, thus contributing to the performance of religious rites with peace of mind and ease.

A fully integrated, 24/7 operational system

The CEO of the association, Engineer Turki Al-Hutairshi, affirmed that the project operates according to a well-defined operational plan that ensures continuous service throughout the year, with maximum readiness during peak seasons such as the holy month of Ramadan and the Hajj season. He explained that the project relies on a qualified staff of 351 specialized translators who provide their services in more than 20 living international languages, thus covering the vast majority of nationalities and languages ​​of visitors to the Grand Mosque.

Service locations and variety of tasks

The project's role extends beyond mere interpretation; it also includes a range of support services designed to enhance visitor comfort. These services include:

  • Instant translation of fatwas and lessons.
  • Effective communication coordination between questioners, sheikhs, and service providers.
  • Organizing crowd movement within service locations to ensure smooth flow.
  • Providing authentic Arabic hospitality and distributing awareness books and brochures in multiple languages.

The translators are stationed at 16 strategic and vital locations within the Grand Mosque and its courtyards, including key points such as King Abdulaziz Gate, King Fahd Gate, Ismail Gate, the Mataf area, Ajyad, and Safa Gate. These locations are covered by four daily shifts, ensuring uninterrupted 24-hour service.

Project impact and dimensions

This project reflects the remarkable integration between the non-profit sector, represented by the Hadiya Association, and the government sector, represented by the General Presidency for Religious Affairs, to present a model of excellence in serving pilgrims to the Two Holy Mosques. These efforts contribute to conveying the moderate message of the Two Holy Mosques to the entire world and removing any obstacles that visitors may face, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership to dedicate all resources to serving Islam and Muslims.
