How to update an employee's passport and issue children's passports via Absher

The Absher electronic platform, affiliated with the Saudi Ministry of Interior, continues to enhance its digital services for citizens and residents, as part of its ongoing efforts to streamline government procedures and save time and effort. In its latest update, the platform revealed the official steps required to update domestic worker passport data, as well as the procedure for issuing Saudi passports to individuals under 15 years of age.

Mechanism for updating domestic worker passport data

The Absher platform clarified that the process of renewing a domestic worker's passport requires two essential steps to ensure the legality of their residency. The first step involves visiting the worker's country's embassy in the Kingdom to complete the actual passport renewal procedures and receive the new document. The second step is entirely digital, requiring the employer (sponsor) to log into their Absher account to update the new passport information in the system.

This is done by accessing the sponsored services, then selecting passport services, and then selecting the “Update Resident Passport Information” service, which eliminates the need to visit passport offices to manually register new data.

Issuing passports to those under 15 years of age

In a related context, and as a continuation of services offered to Saudi families, the platform outlined the steps for issuing Saudi passports to children under 15 years of age without requiring a visit to passport offices. The steps involve the guardian logging into their digital account, navigating to the “Family Members” menu, selecting “Services,” then clicking on “Issue a Saudi Passport for Family Members,” and choosing the individual for whom the passport is to be issued. A registered national address is required for passport delivery via Saudi Post (Sabel).

Digital transformation and its impact on quality of life

These services are of paramount importance within the context of the Kingdom's digital transformation under Vision 2030. Through the "Absher" platform, the Ministry of Interior aims to automate government procedures and reduce reliance on paper transactions and in-person visits. This transformation not only accelerates the pace of work but also enhances the accuracy of recorded data and minimizes human error.

The availability of these services electronically around the clock and from anywhere reflects the great development in the Kingdom’s technological infrastructure, which directly contributes to improving the quality of life for citizens and residents, and ensures the continued validity of official documents and avoids financial penalties resulting from delays in updating data.
