كشف تقرير صحفي كواليس محاولة المالك السابق لنادي تشيلسي الإنجليزي التعاقد مع النجم البرتغالي كريستيانو رونالدو، إلا أن الصفقة فشلت بسبب رفض مدرب «البلوز» آنذاك توماس توخيل.
وكان رونالدو قد واجه مشكلات عدة في مانشستر يونايتد تحت قيادة المدرب الهولندي إريك تين هاج، لينتهي الأمر بفسخ عقده قبل أن ينتقل إلى النصر مطلع عام 2023 في واحدة من أبرز الصفقات في تاريخ كرة القدم.
تحرك بوهلي لضم رونالدو
وبحسب ما نقلته صحيفة «ماركا» الإسبانية، كان كريستيانو رونالدو أقرب للانتقال إلى تشيلسي خلال فترته الثانية مع مانشستر يونايتد، إذ كان النجم البرتغالي، الذي يلعب الآن في النصر، يمر بفترة مضطربة في «أولد ترافورد»، وبرز تشيلسي كخيار محتمل للخروج من هذه الأزمة في عام 2022، وذلك خلال أول فترة انتقالات صيفية لتود بوهلي كمالك للنادي اللندني.
اجتماع مع مينديز
وأضافت أن رجل الأعمال الأمريكي، الذي شغل لفترة وجيزة منصب المدير الرياضي لنادي تشيلسي، اجتمع مع الوكيل البرتغالي خورخي مينديز لبحث إمكانية التعاقد مع كريستيانو رونالدو، إذ رأى بوهلي أن الفرصة سانحة لجلب أحد أكبر نجوم كرة القدم في العالم إلى لندن، وحاول جاهداً إتمام الصفقة.
توخيل يعرقل الصفقة
وتابعت أن الصفقة فشلت في النهاية بسبب المدرب توماس توخيل، الذي أوضح معارضته الشديدة لأي اتفاق بشأن المهاجم البرتغالي في مناسبات عدة.

Meeting with Mendes
It added that the American businessman, who briefly held the position of sporting director at Chelsea, met with Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes to discuss the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo, as Boehly saw the opportunity to bring one of the biggest football stars in the world to London and worked hard to complete the deal.
Tuchel Blocks the Deal
It continued that the deal ultimately failed due to coach Thomas Tuchel, who expressed his strong opposition to any agreement regarding the Portuguese striker on several occasions.
