في قرار أثار جدلًا واسعًا داخل الأوساط الرياضية البرازيلية، قررت المحكمة الرياضية العليا إيقاف مدافع إنترناسيونال فيكتور غابريال حتى تعافي منافسه غابريال بيك وعودته إلى التدريبات، بعد الإصابة التي تعرض لها إثر تدخل قوي خلال مواجهة الفريقين في الدوري البرازيلي.
وكان غابريال، البالغ من العمر 22 عامًا، قد تلقى البطاقة الحمراء خلال المباراة، عقب تدخله على مهاجم كروزيرو أثناء محاولته استخلاص الكرة، ما أسفر عن تعرض بيك لإصابة ستبعده عن الملاعب لمدة تتراوح بين ثلاثة وأربعة أشهر.
وقضت المحكمة بإيقاف مدافع إنترناسيونال ست مباريات على الأقل، مع استمرار العقوبة حتى استعادة اللاعب المصاب جاهزيته وعودته إلى التدريبات، على ألا تتجاوز مدة الإيقاف 180 يومًا، مع إتاحة الفرصة للاستئناف على القرار.
ودافع فيكتور غابريال عن موقفه، مؤكدًا أن التدخل لم يكن متعمدًا، مشيرًا إلى أن أرضية الملعب المبتلة والزلقة أفقدته السيطرة على حركته وأسهمت في وقوع الإصابة.
في المقابل، رأت جهة الادعاء أن التدخل حمل درجة عالية من الخطورة، رغم إقرارها بعدم وجود نية مسبقة لإيذاء المنافس، ليصبح القرار واحدًا من أكثر العقوبات إثارة للجدل في كرة القدم البرازيلية، بعدما ارتبطت مدة الإيقاف بشكل مباشر بموعد تعافي اللاعب المصاب وعودته إلى الملاعب.
In a decision that sparked widespread controversy within Brazilian sports circles, the Superior Sports Court decided to suspend Internacional defender Victor Gabriel until his opponent Gabriel Pech recovers and returns to training, following the injury he sustained from a strong tackle during the match between the two teams in the Brazilian league.
Gabriel, who is 22 years old, received a red card during the match after tackling a Cruzeiro striker while attempting to regain possession of the ball, resulting in Pech suffering an injury that will keep him off the field for a period of three to four months.
The court ruled to suspend the Internacional defender for at least six matches, with the penalty continuing until the injured player regains his fitness and returns to training, not to exceed a suspension period of 180 days, with the opportunity to appeal the decision.
Victor Gabriel defended his position, asserting that the tackle was not intentional, pointing out that the wet and slippery pitch caused him to lose control of his movement and contributed to the injury.
On the other hand, the prosecution argued that the tackle carried a high degree of danger, although it acknowledged that there was no prior intent to harm the opponent, making the decision one of the most controversial penalties in Brazilian football, as the length of the suspension is directly linked to the timing of the injured player’s recovery and return to the field.
